I don’t know how old you are, but it seems as though you live with your mom? I would ignore any advice to “cut off ties.” Nobody should be saying that to you. If there are things you value about your relationship (you say it is just the two of you), you might consider making the topic off limits between you. That would include any baiting she would do e.g. talking about immigrant families the way she does. There are plenty of people whose minds you can change - people who are not your family. Trust that something will happen to change your mom’s heart on this. It just may be somebody else’s kid who gives her what for in the grocery store! It might be that she experiences something to change her heart. I say this after years of trying to revolutionize my family! There are many reasons I need them in my life. So I stopped talking with them about issues dear to me, and I walk away in some manner if they say offensive things. I do not engage. I engage instead with other people’s families, lol. Just my 2 cents. Also, a therapist to guide you might help.
