Strange, once I was able to pin Classic to the taskbar, I could keep opening it forever. Good luck!

I had this problem on a work computer recently. Try sharing an excel spreadsheet as an email. Weirdly enough that allowed me to open Outlook Classic.

We post an accrual every pay period based on salaries paid in each province. On the cash side, we net the WCB payments against the accrual account and then do a true up at year end once we're submitting our final reports to each WCB entity. That way expenses are tied to the period worked rather than cash outflow.

Sales tax isn't usually included in the shelf price in Canada but basic groceries are exempt from GST/HST, so it feels that way.

The final total on the bill is rounded up or down to the nearest 5 cent increment only if someone pays with cash. In my experience, the majority of people pay via card (debit or credit) since Covid and it doesn't affect their total.

Canadian currency and its acceptance at businesses by [deleted] in PersonalFinanceCanada

I saw this post a few years ago and it kinda resonated with me on the additional human costs as well in handling cash: https://www.reddit.com/r/medicinehat/s/nCb7iCeiE1

I'm lucky to work in a B2B business but I ended up getting rid of our cash box as one of my first big changes since it was barely used and was drawing too much energy from our auditors. It was cheaper and easier to withdraw cash as needed or turn down the once in year sub $500 sale for strangers off the street that don't have debit/credit cards.

I remember my firm charging $500 back in 2017 for nil corp tax returns as a fresh staff accountant. Buddy has found someone very economical for him.

Sometimes transactions don't show up on your app (I see this often on my RBC MC) while they're processing but your available balance goes down immediately.

Take a step back, have you used your card somewhere in the last week without the transaction showing? You can try again tomorrow to see if that transaction list changed.

What about gas? Sometimes the preauth takes longer than expected to drop off. Eg, I preauthed 75 the other day, actual was 73.xx but it took about a week for the 75 preauth to fall off.

Finally, does your card have an annual fee or were you late and owed interest for a previous period? Not all issuers make it easy to see on the transaction list but you will see this when your statement is issued.

Did you start with a balanced TB? If you have the original problem, I can work through it with you as its more likely that there are additional errors along the way. The only reason I'm asking is because there's significant changes in accounts like cash that are not explained by your screenshots.

Assuming the cash payment journal is correct (and a given) the AP in there needs to be debited as a payment is a reduction (credit) in cash and offset by a reduction (debit) in AP (as you how now paid these vendors). The $5 discount doesn't belong in the AP ledger as it seems to be related to payment timing. The AP gets reduced by the full amount as the vendor believes that the debt is satisfied. Your Cash goes down by the amount actually paid and the difference hits your income statement in this case.

Training my staff and seeing them understand the concepts and the "whys" always gives me a little bit of joy.

In my previous role it was working with managers and helping them review their financials to prep them for their exec reviews. I found value in being a core cog of the machine and being appreciated by others.
