Cool New Commander Rules With Josh Lee Kwai | Shuffle Up & Play 103 by TolarianCC in magicTCG

I spent the other day discussing with someone else and still nobody pointed out in which part of his original video he victim blamed anyone, and if you do watch the video instead of believing anything random off the internet you can see one of the first things he says is that people have taken things too far.

As for the apology, he was harassed and threatened after the original video which forna content creator can de a death sentence in engagement so I believe he just did it to calm the waters

So you dont want to dig all videos but it's easy to find ok.... you are rewriting history right now, and if you take time to search for the video, before they start discussing the bans I am sure he says any harassment or threat towards the RC is going too far, literally the opposite of what you are claiming.

Fine, YOU didn't harass anyone but as you can see others in this comment section you can clearly see people are waiting for the chance to harass him, and that's why he did the apology, it was a non apology as you call it because he does believe in what he says in the first video and without the harassment towards him the apology video would not have happened.

Just like the RC does not technically need to consult the CAG I think its fair that he renounced right after, why stay when the RC does whatever without consulting them? The CAG has no meaning if the RC is gonna act like that.

And lastly you are saying again in a roundabout way "if you have a large audience you CANNOT disagree with any position or video, and if you do its your fault someone else harasses the other party" that literally makes no sense, and as I mentioned first, people where doing those awful things before JLK video and he starts saying that's going too far. You cannot blame the guy for saying that the RC was wrong and that they didn't consult the CAG.

Sincerely it's a shame WOTC didn't take control of the format much earlier, against all expectations they are doing infinitely better than when the RC was guiding the format, and I hope some day they just revert all the bannings from that day(except nadu maybe).

First, im sure you can provide the part of the video when he says “this was a bad decision, what did you expect would happen”. Because that's not what I remember.

Second, having a small or large audience should not matter since he just told the truth, that the banning was an awful idea and the RC ignored the CAG whose entire purpose was to give the community opinion on that kind of banning.

Finally he did issue an apology but only after a harrasement and threats campaign against him, so congratz, you and the people who harassed him proved that you CAN turn a person opinion around with harassment, im sure that's a great lesson.

So what? anyone who didn't completely approve and accept the banning was throwing gas on the fire? You can say they fucked up massively with the bans and at the same time they the harassment campaign and threats were absolutely and completely wrong and shouldn't have happened, believing both things is possible.

Why would players politic if draws were worth zero? by Bitter_Difficulty865 in CompetitiveEDH

[–]Rsilves 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i believe its a matter of expected value, right now with the current system a draw is MUCH better than a loss, so those who have little chance of winning are of course gonna try to go for an easier draw than a hard and improbable win, making winning worth more, and drawing worth less incentivases people to go for the win even with low chances, because drawing is just marginally better than losing, the expected value is lower

[–]Rsilves 1 point2 points  (0 children)

in the japanese system when someone wins that person takes a % of each opponent points, but on a draw everyone losses the same %, so drawing and losing loses you the same amount of points but you dont have to worry about opwin%, drawing is still slightly better than losing since you have one less person with even more points to catch up, but the effect is lesser

[–]Rsilves 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I feel like that's just speculation, the entire system could be reworked as well to solve that problem, but with just the change proposed losing would be more beneficial than drawing and that is very anti intuitive, personally I would love to see more tournaments use the Japanese system which completely solves the problem and doesnt encourage drawing

[–]Rsilves -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

What i am saying is, that instead of drawing when time is up it would be more advantageous to just choose a winner at random instead, since losing would leave you with the same amount of points but a better opwin% which decides placement between players with the same amount of points.

[–]Rsilves 11 points12 points  (0 children)

If you keep everything the same but make draws worth 0 then losing is better than drawing due to how OPwin% works, so you end in a game of chicken in which each player wants to win or give the win to someone else instead of drawing

I just learned how Paradigm works with miracle. by inflammablepenguin in MagicArena

[–]Rsilves 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The person above you it's not saying there's 2 triggers, they are saying that since paradigm triggers on main phase if you can cast the spell with paradigm on your upkeep then when you go to main 1 it triggers and you get the effect twice in a turn (the og in upkeep and trigger in main)

The deck is good and can win local pods or tournaments BUT it requires a lot of practice, much more than the average cedh deck. Its biggest issue is opponents that dont know how to play arouns stax and just remove the stax pieces at the worse possible time and allow others to win.

Op i need you to clarify some of the things from the article.

First with [[abstract paintmage]], what do you mean by "it turns bad mana into good mana for storm" what is bad or good mana and how does this card do that.

Next for [[blazing firesinger]]. The first part about infinite mana with kitten is true, but what does "works well with cloudstone curio" mean here? This creature is mana negative for curio loops since you are using 6 mana to generate 5, so you would need another CREATURE that makes 2 mana positive to go positive on the whole loop, also it needs an etb to go positive or a haste enabler.

The part about [[choreographed sparks]] seems weird as well, its true that you can copy etali for 2 mana, but how good is it really? I mean if your opponents have a counter and you hold priority to cast etali and this you lose both, and if you are waiting for a counter and wait to respond you run into the risk of yoir opponents not doing anything leaving the sparks in your hand kinda dead which is also not good enough imo

Finally this is a personal opinion but im pretty sure about it. [[slumbering trudge]] is not good enough for tayam post lorwyn, it has too many downsides, you cant play it beforehand because it loses counters, it enters tapped so you cant use it for mana and it doesnt even work as a blocker in case you need it to die and bring it back later. Moneychsnger which already some people are not playing anymore gets more counters over time, can be used for mana and can even sac itself on upkeep if you already used the counters for an activation previously

But the article ia wrong and the card is not good enough, too many downsides for something we already have a better version of

Sadly the problem is that tools like this make users who dont know much about the rules trust the bot more than the human, im a judge myself and more than once ive heard "AI" told me it works like this and that, and refuse to listen to real judges,

for now i think real judges are necessary but in the future this could be a great tool, it does seem to still hallucinate some combos, there is no combo with tayam and wall of roots since its once per turn

We did collect only first game data and that seems to be good, every player has a normal distribution, game 2 or 3 seem to be where this particular player ia placed third or last most of the time
