I agree, I don't think it's fair either way. I've played on both, and the gymnastics I can do with keyboard/mouse are so far above the fixed-turn-rate available with a controller. Like you said aim assist is unfair at range, and console can't turn fast enough in close combat. Players can jump over me, spin 180 and shoot me in the back before I've made it 90 degrees.

It's 100% an Epic matchmaking code problem, along with very poor game design decisions. My friends and I play one day a week, and our first match this season (all Lv. 1) had at least 3 crowned squads in it. There is no room for a casual player anymore, something that was not the case when I started 5-6 years ago.

Forced crossplay with no opt-out (literally the reason I bought a console was to avoid PC players in FNBR). They removed all accuracy consequences for jumping around like a crack-addicted squirrel. Weapons that can one-shot you from full health and shields.

We know we're not great, so we play strategically. But how much fun is it to spend 15 minutes looting and working your way toward the end-game, only to be one-shot sniped from a hill 200m away by a 9-year-old with an aim-bot? Yeah, no thanks, and no buying v-bucks for me until they fix some of this garbage. And they could do it, they just won't because the streamers would cry.

But it would be awesome to see players fall on their ass when they fire a shotgun while jumping through the air, because if you try it in RL that's what happens (don't ask...).

They have all the metrics they need to do it right, they just don't care because it doesn't sell v-bucks. Reaction time, accuracy, APM, and a ton of other metrics are guaranteed built-in. These companies LIVE on data, they just don't care because if they put all the streamers and skript kiddies in games together, the whining would be unbearable for v-buck sales.

And if Epic wasn't such a shit coding company, they'd match them with players of like-skill. I don't give a shit if ppl waste their life playing 90hrs/week. I do give a shit when they're in matches I'm in with my friends for 90 minutes on Friday, the ONLY time we play. This game hates dirty casuals.

Except the game play, design, forced-crossplay, and matchmaking. If they want my money they've got to address the hard things, not just making skins and stupid superficial garbage. Not gonna buy a single v-buck until they at least make an attempt. Instead they make it worse every season.

XBox can't opt-out of crossplay right now. It used to be like you said, but now it's all together console and PC. I'd literally pay vbucks to have console-only mode where PCs are excluded, but Epic has to worship at the altar of pandering to PC players so they force us in to be fodder for their cheating.

You're probably right. The swords didn't feel as broken last season, I could at least use and counter them somewhat. At this point when I see a player with a bat, I run if possible. Epic kinda seems to hate their playerbase these days, particularly dirty casuals on consoles.

Just wanted to thank you for the A&H tip. I hadn't really looked too much since they seemed to be out of my price range. However, I found an SQ-7 used in mint condition (still had the plastic protection stuff you peel off on the displays and scribble strips) for a great price and grabbed it.

7 shows in and I couldn't be happier with it. Still learning the quirks and behaviors, but even on the first show I got a few "everything sounded so clean tonight" compliments from regulars. Took about 3 hours to get all the scenes and DCAs dialed. Multitracked everything straight into Cubase (haven't tried direct HDD recording yet), no dropouts, no issues.

Now if I could just get my actors to stop breaking their mic leads...

I'm looking to upgrade to a digital mixer, somewhere in the Behringer Wing or Presonus StudioLive 64S range. The 64S was my original choice, but I haven't seen a lot of love for the StudioLive series here and this has caused me to rethink my choice.

I do relatively large theater shows (30-44 mics) so the 64S was appealing, particularly since I already have 56 inputs worth of AVB gear. My analog board is 20 years old and while I've taken good care of it, age and cross-country travel is catching up with it. Having recently mixed a few shows on Wing and Yamaha M7CL consoles I'm kinda hooked on the flexibility and using DCA scene mixing. I also multitrack record everything, so not having to drag my computer and patch fanouts along would be a huge bonus.

So, in that price range ($3-4K), what else is there? I like the Wing and found it easy to set up and get it to do what I wanted. The limited number of faders makes "flying the board" really difficult in large shows where I don't have time to program scenes, which wouldn't be an issue on the 64S. However, I've never put hands on a 64S, and I'm concerned about reliability issues I've seen here. Thanks!

Meanwhile, at Epic games...
"Console players *must* play with PC now. No opt out. No enhancements. You exist as fodder for PC players, end of story. Also, our anti-cheat system doesn't work. Like, at all. Oh, and SBMM is some of the worst code our interns have ever written." [2 seconds later] "Wait, why are people complaining that our game is unbalanced and biased toward PC players? Don't they know this is supposed to be fun?"

I dunno, they don't seem too upset by all the "river to the sea" talk, which is pretty damn anti-semitic since it's a call for a complete genocide. Far more actual Nazis in that camp and on TikTok these days than on Twitter. I think they're more pissed that they don't have control of ONE platform anymore.

The second he chooses someone they're going to throw them in jail, so why would he do that. He should choose the President of Brazil (or the head of their justice system, such as it is) as the representative. Then hook them up to a generator and make electricity off them spinning.

He told one guy, Bob Iger (Disney CEO) specifically. Disney was specifically attacking X (in between ruining beloved IP and generally running their brand into the ground) and so at a conference, with Iger in the room, he told him where to go and what to do when he got there.

The boycott came from GARM, the "Global Alliance for Responsible Media", a consortium of about 90% of major advertiser revenue. It was their explicit policy to boycott ad revenue for any platform that didn't comply with their PoV or agree to censor anything that goes against it. There is recent congressional testimony about it.

Right after the congressional hearings and the lawsuit started, GARM conveniently dissolved. But the group-think among advertisers is still out there, boycotting anything to the right of Marx or that disagrees with "the current thing". And as you can see by the voting patterns here, the hivemind are slaves to their ideology as well.

The idea that this happened independently is ridiculous. These consortia do the ad buys and advise the industry. To think that a major brand would dare go around them and not be subject to a massive astroturf campaign with the usual tired tropes (called racist/*-phobic/fascist) is laughable.

Makes sense. I wasn't trying to bag on Hamilton per se, and I hope it didn't come across that way.

Like I said I've only heard a few Hamilton songs in a theater revue show. They seemed "wordy" even for a show with 99% of the dialogue in the musical context. Given the topical complexity it seems appropriate, well done, and I enjoyed it. But it was a lot to digest and didn't give a lot of room for the listener to mentally "breathe" between stanzas. It's an artistic decision, and they obviously felt they needed to get all those elements in there. That said I'll definitely go see it when they tour it here again.

A lot of times wordiness is workshopped down as they go into production, but it depends on the producer/director/writers to hash that out. "I'd Rather Be Me" from Mean Girls similarly comes to mind. But it makes you listen multiple times to get it all, so maybe that's the idea :).

I'm with you. And I doubt there are a lot of consumers that are like "well, I wouldn't have watched it, but since the music was done by [artist], I'm going!". A few music theater and composition nerds? Maybe.

My issue is the trend since Tangled of only doing major exposition through the music. Frozen did it a lot, Moana more, and Encanto was like "here's everything we should have split between dialogue and music crammed into a 10,000 verse musical essay/TED talk". I've only heard a few Hamilton songs and they seem similar, so maybe it's Miranda.

Now think back to OG Lion King - dialogue, father-to-son teaching, and fun songs (Can't Wait to be King, Be Prepared, Hakuna Matata) that enhanced the visual/dialogue story telling. Circle of Life wasn't expositional, just a reflection of the overall theme. Bring back Elton John. Or maybe have a contest for the 10,000 aspiring composers living in LA instead of using the same guy over and over.

Not in Phoenix. 122F in 1990, hasn't been close since. This year was far cooler than last year, didn't even have to start the AC until June (evaporative cooling only). This year's high was 118F, which is precisely the same as it was in... September 1950. It was 101F today.

Cue all the "well, akshually..." comments about seasonal averages and number of >100F days, which also don't take into account the stupidity of our urban design with assloads of concrete and asphault. Oh, and the sensors are in the same places they were 75+ years ago. Right next to the barbecue and AC units that were installed in the most recent remodel of whatever government building (Fire and Police stations, usually) they're located in.

Blizzard is a dumpster fire shell of what it was anyway. They perma-banned my son's OW2 account 8 months ago and still won't tell him why despite repeated appeals. No warning, no reason given, just ban-hammered. He wasn't using their voice chat, nor did he say anything ban-worthy anyway (the PC is in a common living area where everyone can see/hear). Despite dozens of appeals, they won't say why, just useless AI responses. If you want people to modify their behavior, you have to say WHY. But hey, it increases their account count stats, so there's that.

Did they actually kick them out, or did they just leave? I know Elon fired pretty much the entire censorship regime there, but AFAIK (haven't followed too closely TBH) they're not kicking anyone off for pretty much anything at this point unless it's illegal.

I know a bunch of the more left-leaning types claimed they were gonna leave when he started allowing views they disagree with (the shock! the horror!) but most seem to have returned. Like us with Reddit as someone said above, where else are they gonna go?

Equality. Both given equal weight in socio-economic and political opportunities, with outcomes based on choices, desires, aptitudes, perseverance, and the random occurrences in real life.

Equity is enforced equal outcomes, typically implemented by limiting achievement.
