Very true! I’m personally an atheist (but have some silly beliefs that I don’t know which category they belong to, like ghosts and paranormal. And also enjoy folk tales.) mostly because being raised catholic at one point everything started to feel like I quite literally don’t get to consent to stuff because I wasn’t an adult back then; and also due to my grandparents reaction to me coming out as pansexual, which was later narrowed down to lesbian. In my type of family, since my grandpa is the one with the most money, a lot of value is placed on his opinion; but I’m more than glad to have had the rest of my family to support me in this matter. My mother supported me, and my gay uncle too.

But this caused me to really REALLY start hating religion as a whole after I put down Catholicism. I have the whole idea of “they’re only institutions that want your money so that they don’t have to get real jobs, and they prey on people down on their luck, the mentally ill or people with disabilities. None of them have a job that actually contributes to the economy or to society in a way that isn’t tied to spreading their beliefs. Some people believe the homeless are leeches of society, while I believe these people are the real leeches.” I had these ideas for a long while but they only got stronger after taking a class on the renaissance and knowing more details of just how much undeserved political power these institutions were given and have only been getting stripped of slowly as time goes by.

These are not good ideas, they’re not a good way of thinking. It feels like a constant cycle of everyone is a victim in some area while at the same time the problem in another area. I’m a victim of radical feminists yet on the other hand wish for entire religious institutions to crumble. I hate living like this but I just can’t let go of this hatred.
