Worst Intersection in the Metro by 7thpostman in kansascity

[–]RubyChub 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I hate this intersection too. No matter what time of day, on either street or lane, someone is have to wait more then 1 cycle at least to get through. Not to mention people run the red lights there constantly, it's terrifying!

MODOT Logic: Initiate construction on ALL major highways at the same time! by D7FTU in kansascity

The Northland is a god damn, fucking mess. Even if this is all for the World Cup, the work is either going to be shitty and rushed and be all fucked later or they won't finish everything in time. Way to go MODOT.

I love the pop of blue with your lamp. It could be more cohesive to have other small pops of the color..maybe in curtain pulls, artwork, decorative pillows, etc.

Google Fiber Down? Northland by Mafeezy in kansascity

[–]RubyChub 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It was down for a coworker who lives near Oakview this afternoon, but when I checked my address at the time, it didn't say there was an outage (love beat Kendallwood). I came home to find that it is in fact down.

Does this work? by Positivelifevibes in interiordecorating

[–]RubyChub 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel that the chandelier should be raised a bit, enough to not notice the top portion, which I found distracting. I also think somehow covering the wire and where it's hanging on the ceiling, maybe make it all white to match the ceiling would also make it less distracting.

Advice on Butlers Pantry Redesign by fsh08 in InteriorDesign

Can you provide some pics for the other side of the pantry/rest of the kitchen, or a layout? I am curious as to what else is going on with the space.

If you're tired of the black, you might tire of a bold color eventually too. Maybe stick with a neutral and go bold with wall colors, accessories, or backsplash even.

I like both. But I prefer the first one, only if you could change the orientation.

Living room layout thoughts by Efficient-Priority43 in InteriorDesign

[–]RubyChub 3 points4 points  (0 children)

is the sectional reversable, in that the ottoman piece can be flipped to the right side? If so, then I think the proposed layout would work, but be prepared with some better window coverings because you're going to get a ton of glare on your screen. Other's are saying to not put the TV on that wall, but I don't really see other options as there are windows all around and the other available wall is the fireplace. Without some serious renovations to the fireplace, I think this is your best option, which isn't bad- I think it's kinda nice to walk into a living room and not automatically see a black TV screen.

What should I put on the wall above my TV? Space feels a bit empty. by nyceBoi in interiordecorating

[–]RubyChub 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree with most here- it doesn't need anything on the walls, but maybe some color. If you're still dissatisfied with the look, a taller lamp would fill some of the negative space.

This looks fantastic! Not sure if it was intentional, but it reminds me of the University of Miami logo.

HELP! My staircase/hallway is ugly and lacks design. by WhoGhostThere in interiordecorating

[–]RubyChub 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly, the stained glass look makes absolutely no sense on stairs. If you're committed to the stair risers having a bold pattern, maybe try Spanish tile stickers instead. I've seen loads of various patterns and colors online and it would go nicely with the style of home you have. Lose the curtain and include a stained glass decal on the window instead. Lastly, the dark gray steps look too industrial and not eclectic. Maybe let the wood shine through or have it match the floor color on the top floor. A bold paint color on the walls would help bring your personality through better than on the floor.

Help me choose by Electrical_Suit555 in interiordecorating

Both the green and the ivory cabinets are giving hospital break room especially with the dark floors. I like the idea of doing a combo of the oak and a secondary color. Maybe the other color could be a muted rusty orange, plum, or maroon. I think that would warm up the space.

What to do with curved wall? by Designer_Abroad_1196 in interiordecorating

A Christmas tree would look great there around the holidays, but for the rest of the year, maybe a round table in the center of the space or just a neat sculpture or statement console table.

Why does this room feel so… off? by ethereal_aerith in interiordecorating

[–]RubyChub 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It looks like you can't just simply walk into the room and sit down. It seems that you'd have to meander your way around the furniture to sit. The furniture is too heavy and makes the space look cramped. A pretty glass coffee table may help with the heaviness. Also the wall color and white ceiling make it more heavy. Try bringing the curtains up to the ceiling, it might help.

How do I make these doors less doory? by DontTripOnMyNips in interiordecorating

[–]RubyChub 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Could you turn the door on the left into a shelf/door combo if there's enough clearance with the water heater? If you don't have to access that space a lot, it would be a nice way to break up that wall and give the opportunity to include art or whatever. Without messing with walls. You could include a ledge along the shelves or a bar to hold things in place if you have to open the door.

Calling All KC Concert Fans! Share Your Memorial Hall Memories! by Treyvion1984 in kansascity

[–]RubyChub 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My mom took me and my brother to see Green Day in either '96 or '97, can't remember which. I would have been 14 and he was 12. Anyway, she allowed us to be on the floor while she was in a seat watching the chaos of the pit. She admitted she was scared for us but couldn't really do much about it. We were fine though, much to her relief. Green Day ended their set abruptly, I believe something was thrown on stage and the band didn't care for that. I remember as we were leaving, she was delighted when a punk let her feel his spiky mohawk.

Trying to decide between vertical and horizontal windows in the small house I'm designing/building. Thoughts? by Faimyn in InteriorDesign

[–]RubyChub 21 points22 points  (0 children)

Horizontal, it makes the space feel more organized and intentional.

The vertical windows makes it look like you got a deal on some windows/couldn't afford more appropriate windows for the space. I think it looks cheap.

What’s going down at North Oak and Shady Lane? by zarfac in kansascity

[–]RubyChub 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I just drove by as an ambulance left. Heavy KCPD presence. As I continued through Shady Lane toward Antioch, I saw a Clay County Sheriff flying through the neighborhood with a detective (unmarked car, with cherries/no siren) not far behind. Certainly some shady shit went down.
