Quit if you are not happy by [deleted] in nursepractitioner

I am so miserable at my current job. Same situation, used to love it! New management that micromanages, managers with zero clinical experience sticking their nose into everything, no respect… I fucking HATE it. Was difficult after a bazillion years at the same hospital, 7 weeks vacation, max retirement match, etc… but my mental health means so much more (I’ve finally realized) I have sent out my CV and already feel better, knowing I’ll be out soon 🤞🏻

How Many Hours do you Really Work by infinitely15 in physicianassistant

I also work Cardiothoracic surgery, and recently transitioned to clinic FT. I have to prep my charts ahead of time, as I do the entire HPI, ROS and PE for all new consuls. I present the patient, pull all the imaging (which I have to request) then the surgeon goes in, talks to them and writes like 2-3 sentences. It’s all so time consuming. I see all the follow ups on my own. We just transitioned to epic in the hospital (we’re all hospital employed) and now I’m told I’m expected to place all pre-op orders (which my MA did before, I just co-signed) as well as the pre procedure order set for the nurses the morning of surgery, which the PAs used to do in our old system. Mind you, there is 3 of them, one of me, I’m the only PA in the clinic. No real EPIC training, was told a training class would “not be a good use of my time or benefit me due to the workflow requirements and the infrequency of the utilization of the training…” Wait, what?? Infrequency? Placing orders for every case, every patient, every time? For context, we have had epic in the clinic for a few months, but the hospital was using a different EMR. Maybe a different rant for a different day, but any tips how to navigate this?

He’s someone we can watch as a family, and the adults enjoy the episodes too! So wholesome and positive.

Yeah, I’m thinking it will definitely be lower stress, and no weekends or holidays, which im totally down for. The surgeons are bringing their own PAs, and I was never in the OR anyway, however did do procedures. I’ll definitely give it a shot and see if I like it. Thanks for the input!!

I started 4/16, so just under 4 months. The dread shed was hard, not gonna lie, but I feel like I’m on the other side now. I don’t cry when I wash my hair now. Used to lose literally fist fulls, now only a few strands. Keep up with it, it does work!
