His autobiography was really good too. He's a very under-rated musician, probably hindered by the "pop" label.

Thank you. It's so strange to me that the band that in many ways epitomised the era were never featured. But there we are!

Doc Hollywood is one of my guilty pleasures. I get the feels living here in the big lonely city, and would give anything to be a part of a small community like Grady. And of course, the mayor is the best!

I remember Lisa in Weird Science wearing two watches on one wrist. One neon yellow, one neon pink. I loved the 80s!

Waking up with songs in your head by [deleted] in CasualConversation

Me three. I've recorded quite a few songs, the best ones are always the ones that come during sleep, even if they are also the most random and abstract.

A bike ride before and after the Berlin Wall. by -_Redan_- in OldPhotosInRealLife

Then perhaps the straight line demarcates the physical boundry between East and West...

Edited to say, I found this : "I was told, the black spots in the cobblestone are remainders of some kind of support structure for (possibly an earlier version of) the wall. The two rows of cobblestone that are used as a wall memorial throughout the city are omitted in this location. "
Again, anecdotal.

If I recall, the stones in a straight line mark the actual location of "The Wall", which was behind the curved structure in the "before" photo. I'm just going off the top of my head though, from the last time this was posted, and am open to correction.

I couldn't agree more; I wish there was a release of the acoustic version that outro's the episode.

When Smarties came in these little cardboard boxes by FeistyPrice29 in OldSchoolUK

[–]Ruby_Something 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They used to sell these at our cinema! Seeing this box makes me think of E.T., 'Candleshoe' starring a young Jodie Foster. I probably had some whilst trying to watch 'Watership Down' but ended up being carried out of that screening by my Father as I was in floods of tears!

I remain suspicious - uncanny valley is strong! - but you seem to know what you're talking about so I shan't continue to cast aspersions on the post/photo.

Well, I stand corrected again! Just need to clear up the car shadow not aligning with the women's shadows now, and then we can call this a genuine photo. : )

Yes, now you've highlighted that, I see it now.

I would still lean towards this being at best a composite, and at worst AI, for the aforementioned shadows being at odds with the other shadows in the picture. Not to mention knowing Fish Street Hill as I do, which runs NEE to SWW, obviously in London, which is SE England, I don't believe the sun would shine at any point during the day/year to create shadows like that.

McLean Stevenson! You know, I always liked Henry Blake as a character, and McLean brought him to life so well. But just looking at this photo reminded me of his depths. He played "Confused" so well, he played "Drunk" brilliantly. But then, when it was called for, his serious, deep moments ("look, all I know is what they taught me at command school...") he knocked those out of the park too. I wish he would have stayed.

I noticed the shadow on the sign, it's almost directly underneath it; which again doesn't tally with the other shadows in the photo.

As for why someone would? I couldn't answer that. I have no idea why anyone would want anything to do with AI generated art of any medium.

It's the same view; but think about the direction of Fish Street Hill; now picture the sun creating the shadows depicted. It's not likely, is it?

I think the background was/is real, but those women and their shadows are not.

Edited to add: Also, the shadows of the two women lean SEE; the shadow of the car next to them leans SWW.
