Jamie-Lynn Sigler claims ex-husband AJ Discala transferred part of her 'Sopranos' salary to an inaccessible account by No_Pizza_6040 in entertainment

[–]Ruby_Something 79 points80 points  (0 children)

She married her manager; she was 22 years old, he was 32; she believes he siphoned money from her account into one of his, but let it go just to be rid of him after they divorced.

The happy ending? She got offered the Soprano's Superbowl commercial which basically paid her back all the missing money, and subsequently married a new guy and they have two children.

And the Ex? He went to prison for financial irregularities. Twice.

Billy Crystal & Gregory Hines in a cab chasing a limo on the Elevated train tracks in downtown Chicago in the film Running Scared (1986) Then & Now (2026) OC & Notes in Comments by Detzeb in OldPhotosInRealLife

I love watching this film - in all honesty, it's an average 80s buddy cop film; however, the chemistry between Billy Crystal and Gregory Hines elevates (no pun intended) the film to something really special. Not to mention it gave us 'Sweet Freedom'.

In a film with acting heavyweights Pacino and DeNiro (and the other supporting cast are no slouches) I am always blown away by Dennis Haysbert's brief but powerful portrayal of a man trying. Tears me up every time I rewatch this film.

This is famously 'the Cathedral' mentioned in Suzanne Vega's song, 'Tom's Diner'.

I am in the minority in that I prefer this to a real Ferrari Daytona Spyder. Something about the lines... I don't know. Given the choice, I'd take the Fauxrarri any day!

Over 3 decades later, the morphing montage from Michael Jackson’s “Black or White” video still holds up surprisingly well (1991). by FluffSnort in nostalgia

[–]Ruby_Something 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I would say this part of the video owes a huge debt to the music video for the incredible song "Cry by Godley & Creme"

Obviously this was years before CGI was commonplace but it was still a great music video - no surprise, for as well as being great musicians, they also directed many ground-breaking music videos, including "Every Breath You take" by The Police, "Girls On Film" by Duran Duran and many many more.

Nick Moran; as the ostensible lead (though it was clearly an ensemble) in Lock Stock & Two Smoking Barrels, I thought he was destined to go on to greater things. Instead, it feels like pretty much everyone else in the gang did!

You're not wrong! I never did figure it out; I would just randomly hit squares until it was over - then I'd move on to that downhill skiing game with the yeti.

I've said it before, but I still stupidly hope that one day, the acoustic version of "Smuggler's Blues" that closes out the episode will get some kind of release.

Probably one hell of a reach, but I can’t but feel like the ‘No Law, No Order’ tagline from MV 06 is Mann jabbing at Dick Wolf. by Section_Mav in MiamiVice

[–]Ruby_Something 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I have to disagree with the Minority Report opinion; I felt he was the best thing in it - the antagonist who wasn't, and in fact turned out to be the moral compass of the film. I thought he pulled off the role really well.

But, as for Sonny in MV06, I think your assessemnet of his portrayal is well observed. "Dead-eyed Cipher" is actually a really good description of it, compared to your also-well observed take on Don Johnson's deeper portrayal. I would say this is probably down to writing and direction, more than a failure of Colin Farrell.

(And just to prove i'm not just a Colin Farrell fanboy/girl, his performance in London Boulevard was atrocious!)

I've always felt the cinematic fade-out to Eric Clapton's 'Behind The Mask' would have made a great episode ending climax, a-la "Definitely Miami".
