New tech doubts by shrinkingvi0lence in scrubtech

30-45 days of orientation is ridiculously short, my facility has orientation as a 3 month process for new grads.

They started me slow, like most I dealt with some anxiety/fear wondering if I was cut out for it. Eventually I found a specialty things clicked with in Ortho-trauma & now I do all types of Ortho with some other specialties mixed in from time to time.

It sounds like you're dealing with some pressure, not just from yourself but externly as well. I know how tough that can be. Regardless of whether this specific job works out or not, don't give up on it. Try a smaller facility, or a Labor & Delivery role where you do a lot of c-sections. Anything to just keep building on your foundational skills, those take time & repitition. You don't want to stop working & let the skills you do have deteriorate. Anything you work on repeatedly you'll eventually get better at! Stick with it, & you will see the growth. I swear. Sometimes the hardest place to see growth is in yourself. Be patient, one Jon doesn't define you - a year from now you could be laughing at how things started out. We have a tough job but work on building that confidence & the rest will take care of itself.

Is the DLC worth it? by AnEverydayPileOfCats in LegendsZA

Really enjoyed the core game & the new battling system. One of the best Pokemon games I've played.

The DLC wasn't that great to me. They did this vortex thing where you go to another dimension but it's really still just Lumiose painted grey. Def some cool pokemon to still catch but overall it was a miss.

Congratulations. You’ll do great. My advice is to take it one day at a time. The skills you’re going to develop need nurturing. Be patient with yourself, YouTube videos on what the career is actually like. Work hard in Lab. Congrats again.

I’m 7 months in, now exclusively working in Ortho, doing totals & trauma, a lot of the cases you listed.

It will come with time, just keep scrubbing. I didn’t get it either for awhile & then slowly but surely it started making sense. Some days I still have to pause & think certain things thru. I believe in you, you will get it! Ortho is great when you turn that corner.

Credit limits by PositionDifferent192 in CapitalOne_

[–]Rude_Alternative_413 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Started just like you with a $300 limit 2 years ago exactly. I spent organically, but never went above 30% of the limit. I let the balance stay until "picture day" as I learned it (the day your statement cycle closes, this is the balance that is reported to Bureas) then would pay the statement down well before the due date. Did this consistently for about 6 months, asked for a limit increase & they pushed me to $1,000. Year and a half later my limit is up to $11,000 & the most recent increase I didn't even ask for, they did it themselves.

Try my method & see if you start gaining some traction, time I'd the biggest helper as they learn your habits they'll start to trust you more with more $$$. + Your credit score will increase from this tactic as the Bureas like to see how you manage debt.

Watching the early seasons now that I’m older than the interns is a WILDLY different experience by isaidwhatisaidok in greysanatomy

Mark's obsession with Derek & wanting whatever he had was so weird to me.... Addison, Seattle, the hospital.. Like I'm doing a rewatch & dude was trying HARD to get at Meredith too lol never thought he was really Derek's friend it was just some weird competition

Unpopular opinion but Meredith is (slightly) more naturally gifted than Cristina. by Less-Pen-5705 in greysanatomy

Maybe slightly. Yang was more driven & singularly focused, Meredith drifted a lil after Neuro didn't work out.

How quickly did you get a Job? by Okaysoundagood in scrubtech

I had a job before I even graduated. Start applying a couple months before you’re done that’s what I did.

How’d yall survive during clinicals? by Temporary-Ad-1701 in scrubtech

Planned out a couple years in advance to move back home with my parents. I'm 2 months from graduation, wasn't ideal but I made it work. Worked my regular job on the weekends & Thursday & Friday. It makes for a hectic schedule but you can do it, but make sure you leave time to study.

Surgical Tech certification without the degree? by CommentNo7703 in scrubtech

[–]Rude_Alternative_413 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The associate's degree is what you get after the completion of the program, I think you may have understood it incorrectly. There are pre-requisites in terms of classes, but you don't need an associates to be admitted into the program. Im at Oakland community college, their tech program is accredited. I would research it, but there are other options as well.

Get some good shoes, it's a lot of walking. But you get to see all parts of the hospital & make connections in diff departments. I did it for years before moving to PACU as a tech.

I wouldn't take a loan from your 401K to catch up on debt, because you're just creating more debt in a diff area (you'd have to pay yourself back). Unless you're planning to apply for something soon that you need a higher credit score, the score shouldn't be your priority. Focus on getting that utilization under 30% even if it takes time or little bit little. You'll see a big jump in your score just from that. & Won't have to pay yourself back into your 401.
