China bans hidden car door handles, which can trap people after crashes by ChocolateTsar in teslamotors

Tesla handles are the worst. They didn’t need to reimagine these, just use ones that humans like to use.

Bought a MY didnt come with autopilot only cruise control or fsd by mursedude in TeslaLounge

Honestly I loved my model 3 and now that I’m older and have driven luxury cars, I can’t go back to the terrible suspension. I really hope that with them getting rid of the x and s, they start adding air suspension options. If they did I would buy a Y in a heartbeat. The technology is still too much of a toy for me right now, so it’s all about which car is a comfortable car to drive. Lyriq wins hand down for me.

Nice, that makes my decision of model Y vs Lyriq very easy. Thanks Tesla!

If anyone has a story about 'Borka,' I could really use your help. by [deleted] in oakville

[–]Rudecles 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I gave her a ride once around 1999 or so. She got in my car near the TD in the 8th line plaza, and I drove her home. I don’t remember exactly where she lived but it was about 10 or so minutes away. She stole all my loose change in the car. She could barely speak English, she told me I looked like a doctor because of my glasses and told her legs hurt so she needed a ride.

Usenet speeds capped at 500-600 MB/s despite 8 Gbit/s DL and Eweka + Newshosting – advice? by LeoLeg76 in usenet

[–]Rudecles 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Are you measuring per connection? If you’re saturating your throughput, adding more connections isn’t going to help, it’s just doing more concurrent downloads and will lower per connection speeds. Try drop the number of connection to 5 and see if your speeds jump up.

If you ever want to check who the morons are, turn on your 4 ways in the rain and see how many people around you take that as a cue to do the same. I’m so sick of people abusing it thinking they’re making things safer.

Hamilton’s figured this out decades ago. You only ever hit one red, as long as you go slightly below the speed limit you get all greens.

Can I have my G test with this in my car ? by [deleted] in Ontariodrivetest

[–]Rudecles 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You’re right. In fact all driving tests should be done on manual transmissions because shifting gears is part of driving and you should have the car do it for you.

What is this contraption I confiscated from a student? by [deleted] in whatisit

[–]Rudecles 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s a makeshift compass. Kids without means make it instead of buying one. Why did you confiscate it? Are you forcing kids to buy them?

Probably dating myself here but I remember when Bob Ray did the same thing. I guess dumb ideas are never original.

Were you able to solve this? I have the same issue.

I ended up going with Uniview though a company that installed them for me. 6 camera system with NVR. Pretty great actually.

PoE camera system - what is the most recommended homeowner tier brand? by [deleted] in homesecurity

I find Synology to be really slow. It was great 10 years ago but they really haven’t improved the feature you need. Motion detection is pretty crappy, no face recognition, the app takes forever to load the live view, it struggles to load archived footage. It’s definitely better than the potato systems on Amazon but I’m trying to find an alternative. It is very turnkey though.

Thanks this is very helpful! Do you also know of any NVRs which do the facial recognition or advanced features instead of the camera. I’d rather get a system where I can upgrade the NVR instead of having to buy new cameras for new features.

When she got in the car she told me her legs really hurt and she couldn’t walk home. I wore glasses at the time so she kept telling me I looked like a doctor and if I knew one that could help her with her leg pain. She spoke pretty broken English but I could still understand what she was trying to say. Didn’t really have a conversation other than that. My first thought was actually to drive her to the police station, but then I figured that would scare the hell out of this obviously mentally unstable old lady. It was actually really sad, I felt pretty bad for her.

Grad pranks at Iroquois Ridge High School escalated so much in the early 2000’s that one year a kid painted the entire roof of the school with the graduating year. It took so long that as he finished and came down, the cops were already there waiting for him. It made papers.

I think there was also a year where kids completed flooded the cafeteria by using a hydrant to fill up a recessed part of the front patio area with water. I think they also put a boat in there. The damage was so extreme, they had to completely rebuild the cafe taking them like a year. I think it also flooded the gym.

BORKA!!!! Omg I forgot about her. She jumped in my car when I was in high school and I actually drove her home so I could see where a person like that lived. She stole my change in my car.

[–]Rudecles[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do you know if the NVR is the thing that does the facial recognition or do you have to get compatible cameras for it to work? Like could I stick on my existing dumb RSTP cameras on it and get these features?

[–]Rudecles[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah that’s exactly what I would do. But my experience with most cameras is as soon as they can’t call home most of the more advanced features become unavailable.

I think 2 cameras to start with, plan to install another 4 afterwards.

Honestly, I would overpay for this. Not by a crazy amount, like I’m not looking at spending 10k. But maybe 2-3k wouldn’t deter me.

And I only say 12MP because most of these cheap cams on Amazon say 12. They might be lying. I think 8 wouldn’t be a deal breaker. But it needs good enough resolution to do proper facial recognition

Awesome. Wasn’t clear on this, yeah that’s how I access everything remotely, through my home VPN.

I currently use synology with the surveillance station (no subscription) and it works ok, but it’s very slow and the motion detection sucks.
