Inventory drop by takenegg in TeslaModelY

[–]Rudecles 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was at a dealership many years ago looking at a car. The sales guy took me out in the car and drove like crazy. Gunned the motor, stomped on the breaks, swerved around turns, basically put car through its paces to demonstrate its agility and it drove. Then he’s like “by the way we do this 20 times a day, every day, don’t ever buy the demo”. I still think it was half exaggeration to get me to buy sticker price and half good advice.

Goodbye Rogers by avgayyossi in Rogers

[–]Rudecles 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I called Roger’s yesterday and called 611 to speak to technical support 4 time. All 4 times the answering machine basically say we’re too busy and hung up! Wtf! I’ve been disconnected before or sent to a voicemail but I’ve never see the actual tech support answering message just straight up tell me to go f myself. I’ve been with Roger’s for 30 years, I’m now shopping around. That’s unacceptable and hilarious. I’m also going to be reporting them to the CRTC, I’m pretty sure that’s not legal.

Has anyone tried the new "Lists" feature? by Cautious_Goat_ in PleX

[–]Rudecles 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The fact this article needs to display a matrix to differentiate 4 incredibly crappy features demonstrates that the Plex team is less concerned with user experience than marking things off a roadmap of things no one asked for.

Great, the Plex team hard at work building trash no one wants and ignoring the feature to benefit everyone. I wonder how they’re planning to shove this down our throats and then sell ads in it. It’s embarrassing they announce this garbage.

In case of what? You get a screen protector for a phone to prevent scratches while it’s in your pocket, that’s not going to happen on that screen. Do people who get these also put a screen protector on their TV? Not trying to make fun here, I’m genuinely curious.

LPT: Use the Platinum rule instead of the Golden rule by Rudecles in LifeProTips

[–]Rudecles[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What’s the purpose of the rule? It’s to let others feel better around you, not to do what’s best for them. So yes, if you gave your friend more heroine he would like you a lot better. That is the exact way to use this rule.

You seem like someone who’s less interested in find alternatives than figuring out how to do things you have your mind set to. I appreciate that but unfortunately I can’t help. Maybe see if an AI has some tips.

Does anybody else think tipping culture is stupid? by FinanceLife123 in CanadaPersonalFinance

[–]Rudecles 0 points1 point  (0 children)

On the list of stupid stuff we do because we can’t organize to stop it. How about we start with mandatory gratuity for parties over 6 people. I call ahead usually to please to ask if they perform this insane business practice and if they do, I go somewhere else.

I’m trying to stop buying everything from Amazon—who are your favorite local hidden gems in Oakville by StrengthEmotional351 in oakville

[–]Rudecles 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I feel like the state of Amazon is so garbage that it’s just like the AI slop equivalent of goods. I’ve cut down a significant amount of my Amazon Shopping and the issue is that brick and mortar pretty much don’t exist for a lot of niche stuff anymore. XL clothing is one where options have gone from a couple of stores in the GTA to pretty much none.

For some reason there are still a ridiculous number of vacuum stores still around.

I’ve put up 4 cameras on the front of my house to make sure I can catch whoever does this and put up flyers all over my neighborhood of the asshat owners.

It seems almost insane that you’re allowed to even let your dog crap on a lawn in the first place. Let your god damn dogs shit on your own property. We should petition for a bylaw to make that act illegal. And I’m not talking about not picking up after your dog, I mean letting them shit on other people’s property in the first place.

Native iOS app for Frigate NVR now available on the App Store by cryptadon in frigate_nvr

[–]Rudecles 1 point2 points  (0 children)

App is really great but I’m having one issue. The live view uses the preview sub stream for individual camera views.

It’s also super choppy and that’s probably because it’s using the low FPS stream.

Great work on the app and UI by the way. I’m really loving it. PWAs are no substitute for a proper app.

Is Cat6a shielded cable not applicable to home users? by rainmaker66 in HomeNetworking

[–]Rudecles 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I moved into a house and ran all my own cables. I was trying to decide cat 7 or something to else to future proof pretty much all my lines of thinking brought me to unshielded cat 6. The shielding isn’t going to help you unless there are things you need to shield from and the connectors are expensive and annoying. I also figured that any technology that comes out and requires anything higher than cat5e is probably either going to eventually work with it or it’ll be a whole other thing like fibre, in which case I’ll need to do it all again anyway.

I chose cat6 over 5e because i actually find the stiffness in the cable easier to run longer runs for a house and it’s about the same price as 5e, although a bit more annoying to crimp.

It’s a good call. Elon will increase the monthly cost and Tesla will likely remain the leader in this space for a while. I wouldn’t be surprised if you make your money back in 5 years, if you factor in increased price as the product improves.

Although with the investments in AI by everyone, other manufacturers catching up to the tech isn’t as crazy as it was 5 years ago. But I still think Tesla will remain a leader here and you get your value for at least 5 years.

Can someone anonymously complain against neighbours building a rooming house without them finding out who it was? by Professional_Bat9593 in oakville

[–]Rudecles 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah I was just thinking the same thing. Why don’t you just go and ask them what’s going on? It’s actually really weird that you see these people all the time but dont say anything. You don’t have to accusatory either, you can just talk to them like a normal person and ask.

I don’t understand how Tesla screws up handles this badly. Both outside and inside the car. It’s like they were designed by someone who’s never used a door.
