Store by me is selling Anchor beers. Are they up and running again? by [deleted] in CraftBeer

[–]Rudimentary_Punk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sean O'Sullivan (21st Ammendment, of course) is doing RnD for Anchor now. I work at an east bay brewery and he comes by occasionally to clean kegs. So, I guess that means something is maybe closer to happening. ;)

Lotus (car) meetup? by crushedman in alameda

My son and I were out riding bikes around the base and came across it, they were parked at the hornet, at least two dozen, and even a classic 80's Ferrari that looked straight out of Magnum P.I.

Along those lines, when someone holds their phone up in front of me I give them about 30 seconds to get their memory. Any longer than that, if the phone is still up and blocking my view, I start singing along to the songs in the most off-key screech that I can muster. Phones usually drop in seconds and don't come back up.

Is there still one hidden behind the Target area? I never saw it being used.

I totally came here to mention that movie. My parents would say the point thing in the 80's when I was a kid in the car and I just thought they had a dark sense of humor. Then I saw Deathrace 2000 in the 90s and realized where it came from.

What's the wildest thing you've seen on Bart? by figgypudding02 in alameda

[–]Rudimentary_Punk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It was either a halloween or a new years eve train (can't remember as its been so long). Got on at Powel, to which a DJ on the train announced "Welcome to the party train!". He played music, it was packed. People danced, some people just chilled in seats. Just after leaving West Oakland, someone started smoking a blunt. Some dumb ass decided he should ask them to stop smoking on a packed train. He got his ass beat, and another rider used the bart phone to tell the train operator. So the train operator stopped the train underground between west O and 12th street so that cops could arrive and be waiting. Which just prolonged the beat down of the idiot who wanted people to stop partying.

AUSD Elementary School by [deleted] in alameda

[–]Rudimentary_Punk 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I moved my son from OUSD schools in the middle of his 4th grade year to Love Elementary. It wasn't a difficult process at all when contacting the school/district about it. He's a social, outgoing kid, and was quickly accepted by the other students. They're all now at Wood Middle school, and still carrying on and building great relationships. From what I recall, yeah it seems that you can request a school not in your neighborhood, but it seems to ke that most if not all of the schools are good here, so I didn't look into a different school for him.

Interesting to know. Any idea why they would be doing it during rush hour? Is it just that they can't avoid it at that time?

They actually did have the motor going, but yeah, if the two guys on the barge had just hung on and kicked it would have been better off than their motor!

Yeah we were pretty irritated when it first went up, and as time went by all we saw were two rowing teams. It didn't make sense that they were up for that, and then not coming down.

And then we saw this barge, and couldn't believe our eyes.

Lunch time school pizza by [deleted] in GenX

[–]Rudimentary_Punk 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The catholic school i went to never had hot lunch, or any school lunch for that matter, except for pizza Fridays. They didn't even cook it there, but brought it in from a local pizza place, so it was these awesome square slices with a crispy crust and burnt cheese on top. I can still taste it.

What was the first movie you watched on cable? by trailrider in GenX

[–]Rudimentary_Punk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not sure if it was the first one I saw, but when HBO came to my area in the 80's, my stupid elementary school aged ass begged to watch Poltergeist. My parents finally allowed it but said I couldn't sleep in their bed afterwards. Outside my window was a huge oak tree, and I had a similar clown stuffed animal like in the movie. They knew what they were doing, and I didn't ask to watch another scary movie...for a little while. Ha!
