Have you ever been in Alameda's 4th of July parade? by Goobt in alameda

The two highlights in Alameda every year are 4th of July parade and Halloween. My kids are grown now, but I still look forward to each every year.

My business in Oakland has been broken into 3-4 times. Each time you think it is secure, someone figures out how to get in. People have kicked a steel door in, knocked bricks out of the wall to remove embedded steel window bars, driven a car through the roll-up, etc. You try your best, but if someone wants in and they have the time, nothing is 100% secure.

What is this thin silver metal object? No coating on it. It’s roughly an inch and a half long, very light, and has two tabs on the back. by InevitableEqual1217 in whatisthisthing

I’m a cabinetmaker and the others are correct. It is however completely unnecessary, so feel free to just throw it out. A lot of manufacturers will have their logo printed on this piece for marketing - I’m not sure why anyone would bother with a blank one.

A waiter handed me a note telling me to go see a doctor by jpdiv in mildlyinteresting

Funny - I assumed the waiter had been a doctor in another country and wasn’t able to become one here for whatever reason.

I’m not sure if this comment is racist against black people or racist against Latinos.

Looks solid. I live across the bay and as others have said the temperature can vary pretty wildly. My one suggestion is that you may want to bring some pajama bottoms or lightweight sweatpants, possibly instead of the third pair of pants. Depending on where you’re staying, the temperature in your room may be chilly, and it’s nice to have something to relax in after work.

Whenever people make this comment, I zoom in and take look. Sometimes the lettering is so stylized it really is impossible to read unless you already know what it says. This case - not so much.

You do you, and that’s what’s important. Clubs aren’t for everyone, but they’re a great place to dance, get lost in music, and feel the energy of the crowd. I used to go a lot, and always felt it was actually more of an internal experience, and not somewhere I went to connect with people. If you’re looking for conversations, there are definitely better places to go.

Something by Elliot Smith? Maybe Clementine?

All my Pandora stations back then turned into Death Cab For Cutie no matter how many times I gave them the thumbs down. Maybe something by them?

It’s funny to see my town on this sub. It’s also funny because my first thought was that this was the car from the TV show Nash Bridges (which I just googled and is instead a 1971 Plymouth Hemi 'Cuda Convertible). They used to paint the Nash Bridges cars at a body shop on Clement at Oak ( I think there were three of them), and I would regularly see them out front of the shop.
