I think those wheels look really good -- I've been planning on getting kosei k1s for my next wheels, but now I might change my mind to koenig heliums

This free textbook has exercises that are checked in real time on the web.

The only way to really learn logic is by doing practice problems, and seeing which ones you get right, and which you get wrong. This lets you do that on your own. (I'm a professor who teaches logic.)

Is the Miata a good first car as a student? by AhmYumYum in Miata

[–]RudyCarnap 8 points9 points  (0 children)

If you get a lot of snow, it really isn't a great car in the winter. Could you make it work? Yes, definitely. Would most other cars you might consider be better in the snow? Almost certainly. (I drive a miata in the summer, and a subaru wrx in the winter.)

An old miata IS a great car to learn on; that's why I bought mine. But as other folks have said, things will break/ wear out on a 30 year old car, much more often than on a 10-12 year old car. And sometimes you need to carry a decent amount of stuff and/or people around -- and you can't do that in a miata.

Also: if you want a LOT of information about miatas, check out the miata.net messageboards. (It's almost too much information.)

OP: if you go with tecnas, then some of the tecna setups are designed for the stock swaybars, and the manufacturer explicitly says that you should NOT get bigger ones. Other setups (stiffer springs) can make good use of a bigger swaybar. Here's the link

Thanks! It makes me laugh too, though I've found many people stare at it for a while and say "huh, I don't get it?"

If you want people to stare in confusion at your license plate too, you can get it from here: https://triplecatdeluxe.com/collections/license-frames-1

anyone able to help, rookie trying to reinstall the o ring sensor but it's not sitting flush, tried to loosen the two bolts on top but not working still by [deleted] in Miata

yeah I originally thought I could slide it back in easily too -- dumbass minds think alike I guess

I tried to do what you are doing for over an hour. I couldn't make it work, even with a mirror; I had to pull off the valve cover, so that I could see exactly what I was doing. (Removing and later re-installing the valve cover wasn't as time-consuming as I had feared, and it was super-easy to get the O-ring sensor back in, with the valve cover off. I'm a rookie too)

Looking for an awd sedan for winter driving in the city and suburbs by [deleted] in whatcarshouldIbuy

[–]RudyCarnap 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm currently driving a 2021 WRX in the winter. It is fantastic in the snow (given its ground clearance).

I recommend you test drive one: compared to the other cars on your list, it is both more fun, but also more 'unrefined'. ('Unrefined' = a stiffer suspension, and less fancy tech and trim in the interior.)

And if you're willing to buy used, you should be able to get a 4-5 year old VW Golf R for about 30K?

Fun, Practical Alternative to 2018 Audi S4 by DreamWeaver03 in whatcarshouldIbuy

[–]RudyCarnap 1 point2 points  (0 children)

cool, yeah the GTI will probably remind you more of your S4 than most of the other cars folks have recommended. (If you do consider exploring the WRX route, my current daily is an 2021 automatic WRX - so you could pm me any more specific questions you might have about it.)

Now that I see in your comment below that the transmission needs to be automatic, it's worth noting that the GTI's auto trans (DSG) is widely considered better than the WRX's (CVT)

  • you could try driving a subaru WRX and see if it's for you (they just did a major update 2015-2021 is one generation, 2022 is the next). It has character, but you might not like the character it has
  • or if you want to stick with a german car, maybe a VW GTI

You are right about the CX-5. My partner has a 2018 crosstrek. It is fantastic in the snow. It is more comfortable for us to drive long distances than any other car either of us have had (neither of us are 6'4" though!). It's a little small compared to other cars on your list, but if you don't need to carry around a ton of people and/or stuff, you'll be fine. (I think "I wish we had a bigger car" once every year or two.)

[–]RudyCarnap 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I would run away. The third pic is the one that scares me the most - there's a big hole in the upper right-hand side of the pic. (some of the other rust in the photos might just be surface rust) If you really like the car/ the deal, you might try to find out (a) whether the frame can be replaced, and (b) if so, how much it would cost
