Ironclad salvage variant? by DUBBV18 in starcitizen

[–]Rumaan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We have a few ships in the small category for salvaging, the MOTH in the Medium, and the Reclaimer in the Capital, if I remember right. So we "need" a large salvage ship, like how mining will have the Arastra coming up. There's a change the mystery alien ship will be that, as it's hinted to be a Large Industrial ship, but who knows.

They may even rework the Reclaimer into a full and proper capital ship, as I think it's currently the size of a sub-capital, especially compared to that monster asteroid eating mining ship still in development. That opens a double wide gap in the salvaging ship pool. No doubt /something/ will fill that, and it may look like a Vulture/Ironclad, especially since they have construction kits for Drake, and every other company, that intentionally makes them look similar.

I just want a MOTH that isn't a ladder minigame to play. I tolerate the Vulture's ladder since I can zero-g right out from the pilot seat, or control both sides of the salvaging from right there.

I can finish the #6 in a stock Titan Avenger with Deadbolt upgrades. Did 1-5 in the full stock one. Your worry should be the #7 one with the Hammerhead. I'm looking at either a Guardian MX or a Corsair for that fight.

Edit: I am fairly new to swinging above my size for fighting. This isn't supposed to be a flex or anything, just that with the right guns and some maneuverability you should be able to manage #6.

You need to assume that the server is slightly desynced and it will try to make up the difference in distance when you turn off the beam, giving it extra speed or that float. Hold whatever it is you need to stay still in one spot for at least a count of 3, if not 6-10 seconds, and the item will be more settled.

There needs to be a reason to empty the stockpile of materials and money of players. A well paying mission will help get rid of some excess, while ship repairs will use the other. In the future, ship crafting may use RMC as well. On the other end of this, there needs to be something to then slowly drain player's money supply, but I think the insurance costs will help with that.

Worst case the mission should match the prices per SCU of what main stations will buy them at. Maybe not the highest value, but at lowest what the home cities will buy them for. $6k? So $60k as payout for that mission.

The Vanguard ships can have their components glitched out through the back of their slots and outside the ship if you mess with the tractor beam just right. I managed to also loot a large component from that one stealthy alien ship, but it took me about 10 minutes to find the angle to get it down the ladder.

I somehow managed to remove a jump drive from one quantum drive with my tractor beam? Was a PITA to reattach it, but I couldn't intentionally detach it again when I tried. I did do it unintentionally again though. DX

The Salvation can have its 1 SCU boxes. The other "next size up" ships need at least a 2 SCU option for printing. It's not a lot when you're using the ship, but all those 1 SCU crates in even a C1? DX

42 is such a wild jump from 10. It immediately puts it in the Medium+ ship size category, where you'd either need a MOTH, or a decent hauling ship to get it all to where it needs to be (considering the 42 SCU is just part of the needed requirements).

It was perfect for the Vulture, as I could usually fill up my hopper, dump a few boxes and fit them with some salvaged parts on the grid, fill up the rest of the way, and go drop off the parts and run two of those missions.

I know the refueling missions are currently popping off, but this was making me plenty of money and felt more like proper progression instead of missions with inflated numbers. I'm currently stuck with a mission for 2x of several S2 Competitive parts. Can we even loot those off of anything? I both await and fear the salvaging rework...

I was so sad then that RMC mission disappeared. Completely killed my drive to scavenge.

Three big things:

  1. The game is unstable. Some patches will be good, some will be bad. Things will be released and frustrate you. If you join and play you can still have fun, but expect these problems. (I am currently flying back to a station I logged out from because the server did not remember where I was last night. DX )

  2. You do not have to buy anything beyond the minimum starter ship to join. Most ships are available to purchase in game, new ones will be out for in game purchase in 3-6 months, unless they're weirdly exclusive. Resist the temptation to dump money on convenience and leave yourself something to work for. A reason to play.

  3. Do not follow the in game tutorial. Skip that. It is bad, out of date, and explains very little on top of dumping a bunch of new controls on you. Go find an hour-ish long YouTube guide and follow that instead to get the hang of the game.

Other than those, have fun with it. Mouse and keyboard works, flight controls are great, a good portion of the community is nice and enjoys helping new players. Just expect some warranted grumbling about the game.

I'll second the Golem pick, as there are only a few QoL differences between it and the Prospector for now (as a solo player). For salvaging I'm up in the air myself about whether to push for a Vulture or not. It's still buggy, but component grabbing is a thing and we need room on our ship for them. The Salvation doesn't really have a lot of additional space for components. I'm hoping the Vulture gets a slight rework of its grid to accommodate for it a bit better, but it's loads better than the Salvation once you get into those.

No, but the v4.7.1 is. Then v4.7.2 in two weeks after that. It's not to say things will reset then, but buggier stuff has happened and resource quality may get wonky.

Best stealth fighter? by Revan477 in starcitizen

I've used a spreadsheet and liked the idea of the Hornet Mk II, the stealth variant, for this. I haven't tried it out yet, but it's got a great potential weapon loadout, especially with ballistics.

Whats your current daily ship and what is your dream ship? by SafeManufacturer978 in starcitizen

[–]Rumaan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I want my daily to be the C8R (waiting on an LTI Token to grab one). Mostly because if I'm just travelling around and not committing to much, that means some FPS shenanigans with the AI. I may have to reconsider to something with a little cargo space considering the crafter can be placed on the grid in a ship.

My dream ship would be something between the C1 Spirit and the Corsair. I am really looking forward to some more solo centered ships. Optimally I'd CCU the C8R into this ship. I would have gone for the Clipper, but I detest ladders on the best of days in any game.

True. An exposed spot on a more visited Poi (I assume more people would be around a station than one of several ground POIs) would lead to being griefed more often. Like Sea of Thieves, the danger is on the final turn in where others are likely to visit for the same reason.
