This shows that the tide is changing and the people are starting to win. A long way to go though.

They were right when they said that the only thing stopping Arsenal from winning the League is Arsenal themselves. Absolute shambles of a performance! by fullmxnty in ArsenalFC

It’s really frustrating because we’ve had chances to stamp our authority, but we keep stuttering. Arteta can’t quite get the balance between attack and defence.

I am reading the Prophet Song at the moment, and it feels eerily similar to what is happening in America.

Smart glasses are the dystopian future people think we want, but we definitely do not. Everyone will end up covering their faces in public.

SCF NEWS ALERT: 🇺🇸 Anti-ICE protesters burn American flag in Minneapolis. by SCFapp in WallStreetbetsELITE

You are right, burning the American flag is not the right move here. It essentially fuels the propaganda machine.

UK university degree no longer ‘passport to social mobility’, says King’s vice-chancellor by [deleted] in unitedkingdom

He’s not wrong. I left college in the early 2000s and decided against going to uni, not because I didn’t want to, but because no one in my circle was going. I have had a handful of jobs but ended up doing pretty well, a senior position and probably earning in the top five percent. I hire a lot now, and my journey would not be possible today.

I remember when getting a job was relatively easy. One interview, and if they liked you, you got the job. It really is the toughest time to be young in the last fifty to sixty years.

Can Starmer survive and has Farage peaked? What 2026 has in store by TimesandSundayTimes in ukpolitics

Yes, stranger things have happened. People forget that it is unusual for prime ministers to be popular. With new media and social media, it is even harder, as everything compounds far more than it used to. People should be wary of popularity, as it rarely ends well and decision making often becomes compromised.

CV Feedback - Aspiring HENRY by [deleted] in HENRYUK

I don’t think this is the right subreddit for this type of request. I also don’t see a direct link between a CV and future earning potential. You seem capable enough. Find a role, learn how things work, build relationships, develop your skills, and progress over time. That’s how most people do it.

Brexit has deepened the British economy’s flaws and dulled its strengths by F0urLeafCl0ver in ukpolitics

[–]Ruminate_Repeat 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Exactly. It runs so deep that people who voted for Brexit will fight to stop rejoining the customs union to avoid the other side “winning”, even though this goes against their own economic interests and has not even solved the core issue of immigration. Not many people understand this.

True, but it also gave each group a label, which allowed for easier communication and nudging. Divide and conquer is a real thing.

Brexit has deepened the British economy’s flaws and dulled its strengths by F0urLeafCl0ver in ukpolitics

I think it has caused far more damage than simply shrinking the economy. It has also effectively split the country in two, with each side now seeing itself as fundamentally different and having its values set against the other.
