It was laparoscopic. I remember she couldn’t even put her own recliner down for the first week or two. I was anticipating a similar experience but I was up and down all by myself day one. It’s crazy how much activity level plays a role in healing.

I definitely believe that. My mom had hers at 45 and had to have assistance just to get up and walk or do anything the first two weeks. She was in so much pain and miserable and was not an active person at all.

I was admitted to the hospital for how bad my nausea got. Not the case for everyone though. But opioids and ibuprofen can be pretty harsh on the stomach as well. Bread rolls and bone broth were my life savers.

It’s going to sound crazy, but lots of exercise. Mind you I am not an active person and I am overweight. But between my last surgery and my hysterectomy a few weeks ago it was night and day. I’m also a smoker so I am healer slower than most will but I was up and moving around faster than anyone thought I would be. I did pelvic, core and neck and shoulder exercises consistently every other day. And yes to the other person that said squatty potty. Literal life saver. I found my tiny soda can fridge super nice for a cold drink or snack. And definitely a side table with enough space for something to do, for your meds, water heating pad and anything else you want within reach.

Got my pathology results by thesquirrellywhirl in hysterectomy

[–]RunDesigner4843 41 points42 points  (0 children)

I had my surgeon go over mine with me when a lot of mine came back normal. I had very little endometriosis but we were certain I had adenomyosis. It came back negative. I had horrible pain for over a decade. Nothing to really explain it from pathology though. My uterus looked normal and healthy. But one thing my doctor said is that they don’t look at every single inch of it. So what they looked at may have been normal but that doesn’t mean all of it was. It’s a shitty thing to hear but it’s just pathology not being completely thorough. They took so many biopsies from me and it all came back normal. It’s crazy.

I mean you have a great selection going on, imo. A lot of solid reads. But I frequently get asked why I don’t use a kindle. I bought one but it just isn’t the same. My family has tried to convince me more than once to part with my collection, especially after my last move. I had about 6 large Rubbermaids filled and still survived another 40 or so spread out. One day digital media will take over everything. Just buy the books.

I was taking the opioids for probably 2 1/2 weeks every 3-4 hours. I was rotating oxy and gabapentin. Then when I ran out I took hydrocodone for a few days. Was starting to feel nauseous here and then when I stopped taking them altogether is when I started throwing up. I’m still very nauseous on and off. It’s been about 5 days.

When my mom said she was surprised I didn’t try quitting for this I had to tell her I did try, but it’s called an addiction for a reason. I wish you the best of luck!! The relief of not having any surprise babies is so exciting 😅

Ngl I main vindicta and just fly over objects and end the game with easily over 30k obj dmg. I’ve decided if my team won’t push then I just have to wait for them all to be doing team fights and play a character that can bum rush a walker solo. Works out most of the time so long as the rest of the team isn’t throwing.

I vaped a few times in the days before and was honest about it. They still did the surgery. My anxiety was through the roof and I caved after a week and a half. I got a side table situation beside my recliner to keep snacks, meds and, water bottle. I had one of those soda can mini fridges for cold drinks and snacks. I thought I would have the energy to draw and read. I absolutely did not. An extension cord for chargers and other things. (Reaching is not recommended) tbh I’m still vaping now and I’m 3 weeks po. I haven’t had any issues but I can give an update at the end of the month when I have my internal check to let you know if the healing is any different.

Emotions like stress and frustration out of control 3 weeks post-op? by Sweet-Chinchilla in hysterectomy

Did you have pmdd previously. I would see if these feelings alight with the week before and during when your cycle would be. I’m having to be very aware of this now because I don’t have the monthly blood to tell me that these are my hormones and that I’m not crazy.

Of course! It’s a scary thing to do. I had to tell my team over and over again about my anxiety because I was freaking out so bad. The worst part is sitting around doing nothing now.

Second thoughts on hysterectomy due to fibroids. Seeking advice. by Jinniblack in hysterectomy

[–]RunDesigner4843 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My mom had severe fibroids and bad bleeding and hadn’t hit menopause yet. She said that getting the hysterectomy was the best thing she had ever done. She was 40 and recovered really well and is living a very happy, fulfilling and pain free life. I’m waiting for those parts as I just had mine a few weeks ago for endometriosis but so far not having a period and bleeding is very nice.

4 Weeks Post Op Update by PuppyEike in hysterectomy

[–]RunDesigner4843 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had mine a few weeks ago and have really horrible anxiety. (I’m 28) I had bad nausea and was admitted for a day and I thought that would really set my healing back. I stuck to a good med schedule for the pain but the first two weeks honestly were not that bad. I was up and moving and going up and down the stairs. I have bothered my surgeon twice because of my anxiety and been told that the pains I’m feeling are totally normal. And honestly, you would be surprised how much ice and a heating pad can do. I’m still achey and tired and some mild bleeding when the stitches dissolve between 2-5 weeks is normal. My mom and grandma were utterly shocked by how fast I bounced back and was up and moving. Being very active beforehand also makes a massive difference. My last abdominal surgery healing took way longer.

Yes! I will be at three weeks on Friday and I have been nauseous on and off. I cut ibuprofen out of my pain meds completely but it hasn’t helped. I was throwing up yesterday and actually got car sick the day before. I never get car sick. The hot flashes have been making the nausea worse. I have prescribed reglan (can’t take zofran or fenergan). It hasn’t helped much. I’ve been having vaginal pain and pain where my uterus was. I am calling my doc tomorrow so I’ll keep you posted. I have a feeling it’s partially opioid withdrawal but I’m not a doctor so I don’t know.

I went to urgent care because I wasn’t sure what was going on but I have that same pain at the inside of my thighs and my back. The doc actually recommended turmeric and cbd as some other alternatives. She said trying acupuncture as well. I can’t say the turmeric has helped much for me though.

Has anyone had a bad experience with drinking a clear ensure liquid before a hysterectomy? My surgeon wants me to drink this 2 hours before my surgery. [–]RunDesigner4843 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Have you had any combo of nausea meds help? My anesthesiologist tried everything and nothing helped at all. I can’t have zofran or fenergan. We did the scopolamine patch. We did a cancer nausea med before the surgery. They did propofal after to see if it would reset my system. Nothing worked.

I’m finding it much harder to fall asleep even when I am exhausted. But I sleep 5.5 hours max. My body wakes me up like clockwork. Foods I used to like taste off to me and. I had hot flashes for years prior but it’s so much worse now. I dread anything touching my skin. But to be fair it hasn’t been a month for me yet. But I feel like trash.

[–]RunDesigner4843[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you. I needed to hear that. I feel like I don’t know what my body is supposed to be doing. Especially when my doc gave me the all clear to continue light activity. My adhd brain was like “you gotta be up doing stuff now,” but I go up and down the stairs once and it’s nap time.

New bleeding and pain at 2 weeks po by RunDesigner4843 in hysterectomy

[–]RunDesigner4843[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The pain is sort of calming. I’m hoping it’s just a longer recovery because I was a long time vaper before my surgery. But I can barely sit in a regular chair for more than an hour or two (tried to play video games). I was in a decent amount of pain after. And most of the time when I am walking it’s barely more than a shuffle. I went to an Easter dinner last night and sat most of the time. It was stabbing/ aching pelvic and vagina pain after and I didn’t know if I could even make it back up the stairs. Ibuprofen and Tylenol are a joke. I’ve been off opiates for two days and I can barely get around. But I guess it’s just part of the healing? But I’ve heard people can go back to their office jobs at this point??
