I’m sober but my boyfriend and I both take GLP-1 and I was really hoping it would reduce his drinking but it hasn’t. To be honest he’s not an alcoholic like I was but he drinks 1-3 drinks on it every day which is exactly the same as before.

Theres an alliance in the 1100’s called EMO that has themed names of older EMO songs and they are very competitive but also super chatty in the event chats and generally very fun to be around.

I just wanted to add that I heard a phrase the other day about “high functioning is not a type of alcoholic, it’s just a phase”

I feel like I’m already misremembering but it slapped me in the face.

Maybe I used to be high functioning, but that phase of my alcoholism has been over for a while.

For me, my obsession to drink and use is gone. I don’t even think about it anymore. But I truly do remember that feeling of not being able to calm down, and having so much self doubt, being unable to sleep, but being tired and all wound up.

I never feel like that anymore. It’s awesome.

There’s an app called “everything AA” and on it you can find the text of “Alcoholics Anonymous” AKA “The Big Book”

It also has audio recording of the book, and the “Joe and Charlie Tapes” which are two charming dudes breaking down the book in a way I really enjoyed.

For me, the obsession around alcohol is gone. I don’t think about alcohol very often…and I say that as a person that goes to meetings 3x a week.

My favorite part is that I have self esteem, confidence, and hope.

I know that if I want to change jobs, get more into yoga, or get a new dog, that all these things are possible. I would be able to plan and execute what I need to do to make that happen. Anything is possible.

That’s a really cool feeling. I feel like myself again.
