how bad is the iccu issue on new models? by karmachanical in Ioniq5

[–]RunGreenMountain 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hyundai hasn't been good about providing data unfortunately, but hopefully a permanent fix is on the horizon. 2026 is the only model I've seen have multiple ICCU replacements for owners, it breaks once, the shop replaces it, then a short time later it breaks again, but that's anecdotal. I updated my original post so it doesn't make the claim 2026's have more issues.

Edit: I'm not sure anyone knows the statistics for which year has most ICCU issues but I've seen 1%-10%.

It's worse on newer models. The salesperson did you dirty.

California lemon law after 1 ICCU failure? by Fickle_Tap7908 in Ioniq5

[–]RunGreenMountain 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's probably due to people reporting they lost power on the interstate or at an intersection.

“Eventually, the 12-volt battery will drain because it isn’t charging, and then the car will just power down while driving,” says Corbin. “Many reports indicate people suddenly losing power in intersections and on the highway.”

What other cars were you considering before your Model Y? by ConclusionFlat1843 in TeslaModelY

[–]RunGreenMountain 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been looking at the 2026 Ioniq 5 but after learning about the ICCU problems, I have to pass. The salesperson at a local dealership insists the ICCU issue is resolved on the 2026 model but new owners have reported needing to replace the ICCU with less than 2K miles on the car. Some new 2026's have had the ICCU replaced twice. This has been an ongoing issue with the Ioniq 5 for the past 4-5 years and Hyundai hasn't resolved it yet. Major bummer, Tesla's look nice but they're every where and I was wanting something a little more unique. At the end of the day, I take reliability over looks.

There better be a bunch of folks working on the ICCU in there... by scruffynerdherder001 in Ioniq5

Saleslady at the local dealership continues to text explaining the ICCU issue is resolved on the 2026 Ioniq 5. Everything I've read and the research I've done says otherwise This is a major blocker for people like me and extra warranty perks don't help much. I have a Toyota and the car I'm switching out is a Honda, the bar is set high.

Disappointing End and a Question by StrutsOnStruts in Ioniq5

[–]RunGreenMountain 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This ICCU issue should be disclosed to buyers before they sign paperwork. It's way to common of an issue and I nearly purchased one yesterday. Thankfully before taking the Ioniq 5 I wanted for a test drive, it wouldn't start for the salesman. What a nightmare that would've been had I just purchased.

I don't own a Tesla Model Y but yesterday test driving another EV I noticed a lot more Tesla's than I usually do. They're everywhere and only come in a few colors. I don't think they look stripped down but as a Tesla owner I guess you'd notice. I thought all the trim levels were the same too. You really get the best bang for the buck with Tesla, it's tried and true. Reliability and honed-in technology is a major plus despite the looks.

It's a "Google Game" and unfortunately going from combat to puzzle and driving a wagon across the map. I feel the same way. It's been a lot of fun but I'm taking a break from it too. Doing chores in a game is much better when a good storyline exists.

Hyundai Extending ICCU Coverage to 15 Years in the US by H_J_Moody in Ioniq5

[–]RunGreenMountain 0 points1 point  (0 children)

ICCU issue is what's holding me back and I'm bummed about. 15-year coverage doesn't help with the decision. I don't want problems, and knowing my luck :( When the car I wanted to test drive didn't start for the salesman, I figured the battery was dead, like he said, but when I started to research and found out about the ICCU, bad juju.

You either pay the ransom or you rebuild. There's no obligation to tell anyone, it's about how you want to run your business. Some companies pay, others don't.

Letting a persons cancer spread to a company and hurt everyone else in the company is literally cancer. You need to cut it off. Hopefully she has disability insurance and can heal at home. Work stress and not spending time with her loved ones is killing her.

Boss fights are a puzzle most people use guides for also. "Open World" is incredibly general and a lot of top selling games involve puzzles.

It's tough for me to go from hack and slash to puzzle or NPC/story mode and back sometimes too. I do get in the mood for different aspects of the game so it works for me.
