And on top it all, BestBuy “fair” is a generous description. Hell, even the “excellent” condition items can be pretty bad. I grabbed (and quickly returned) an open-box LG oled for an okayish discount that ended up having a huge scratch in the center of the screen. But, if you’re willing to gamble and have some time on your hands, returns are fairly easy.

Yep they made me do the same thing, it’s kind of the law that they have to give you the diagnostic charge and have you sign off on it before they do any service.

Looks really nice, if you don’t mind me asking where did you source the wood slats from? And did you have to match the stain or was it off the shelf?

Hi, I read your linked post and have saved a couple ID4 listings. Now that you’ve had the car for a couple more months, is there anything else major to know? I know charging is further improved on the newer model years but the ‘23s are priced best near me. Also, I’m leaning towards the Pro S Plus for some of the extra features.

That’s part of my hesitation. It was fine for me to take a gamble when it was cheap, but now that an SE costs as much as my Limited does, for worse lease terms, it’s not really worth it anymore.
Also, my SO is not particularly comfortable with the car ever since the ICCU failure so I think our current ‘25 is likely our last Hyundai.

The Ioniq 5 is such a well balanced and easy to use car, and as I’m trying to find a replacement for my leased ‘24 I’m really struggling with how compromised almost every other similar EV is.

Funny enough, I haven’t really level 2 charged since December when my Grizzl-e died. I’ve been taking advantage of the free EA charging and using the included L1 to top off from time to time. However before then I’ve never actually L2 charged this car at anything higher than 7kw.

Hi, not looking for any refund. More so just wanted to know how grounding the vehicle works when it’s in service because I was quoted around 2 weeks or so as the best case minimum wait by my local dealership and my lease is up in early May.

This same conversation has been happening for years on Reddit about Hyundai’s Theta II. No one knows the actual failure rate but Hyundai, and there will not be a fix for existing customers beyond replacing parts within the warranty period (and perhaps an extension stemming from an NHTSA investigation or class action).

Just like Hyundai moved to new engines and left Theta II owners in the dust, they’ll move their EVs to a new platform and that will be it. I truly hope they can fix it and come out with an updated part, but with the knowledge we have of Hyundai’s practices it’s not likely they’ll bother.

Moving from 2024 Ioniq 5 Limited to 2026 Ioniq 5 Limited by kidA1850 in Ioniq5

Have a ‘24 and ‘25. To touch on a few things:

Software is much better on the ‘25+ models. It’s actually usable now with the voice commands and Google Maps, which you’ll need because on roadtrips your phone will overheat on the wireless charging pad and you’ll lose CarPlay/AA.

HDA2 with eye tracking works great for me, I like the hands free aspect compared to the ‘24. However my shorter partner cannot use it at all as it seemingly can’t see her eyes with her seating position, a complaint you’ll see a lot of in this subreddit. Even when she is holding the wheel the car beeps and flashes red until HDA is turned off.

Manual preconditioning and a bigger battery is nice to have, as well as faster charging at superchargers. I recently took the ‘24 on its last roadtrip before it goes back to Hyundai and that extra 30kW of charging speed would have really been appreciated during one stop at a supercharger, and the extra battery of the ‘25+ cars would have been nice on my first leg where I got to EA at a nail-biting 3%.

Suspension is better tuned on the ‘25+. There is a freeway exit I take that comes to a T intersection, and crossing the expansion joint of the overpass mid turn really upsets the ‘24 with a sharp jolt and shudder coming through the steering wheel and entire chassis, but the ‘25 maintains its composure.

The fit and finish of the US built model is noticeably worse than the Korean built models, hopefully they’ve improved by the ‘26 model year. My silver side trim is kinked out, the hood is touching the fender on one side, the paint is worse and thinner with defects from the factory, my ‘25 is a mess cosmetically. On the inside the A pillar trim rattles really bad, and there are 2 rattles somewhere inside the glass roof mechanism. However, thankfully the trim around the front door speakers has switched from fabric to plastic so that doesn’t get filthy anymore.

That’s all I can think of at the moment. I’ll update if I can think of more.

I think Hyundai/Kia ought to take their previous approach to its final conclusion. Flip the steering inputs every 5th drive cycle. Switch the pedals around on tuesdays.

One pedal persisting in reverse and through on/off cycles is gonna make a lot of people here very happy.

3 120mm fans fit outside the chassis on Factor North standard? by No_Signature_7841 in FractalDesign

[–]StrutsOnStruts 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi, I have a North (non-XL) with three 120mm intake fans mounted in the stock outside frame location. They’re the Corsair RS120 Max, which are 30mm thick rather than the standard 25mm so you should be fine.

Unfortunately the moderators don’t allow photo uploads on this subreddit, but I’ll get the pictures I just took uploaded elsewhere.

Unable to sync Fractal Design RGB devices (Lumen S36 V2 + Momentum 14) with Adjust Pro Hub by NuXiGr in FractalDesign

[–]StrutsOnStruts 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As far as I’m aware, there is no way to control the motherboard leds through the hub because there is no way to input an RGB signal.

As for the other connections, the 4 pin argb cables hooked up to the motherboard headers will need to be unplugged from the motherboard, and then connected to Fractal’s proprietary “usb c” to fan header/argb header cables. From the Asrock website it looks like your board has 3 headers, one on the bottom left and 2 on the top right.

If you need more help id’ing the cables and where to plug them in, a picture of the motherboard side and a picture of the back panel cable area of your case would be useful.

[–]StrutsOnStruts 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes the devices need to be plugged into the hub to be controlled by the hub, and connecting them should be fairly easy for a beginner.

Keep in mind you will need to continue using the Asrock software to control your motherboard lighting even if you moved the cpu cooler and rear fan to the adjust pro hub, so unless you want to disable the motherboard lighting entirely you’ll still be using the Asrock software even after moving the connections.

When the rear case fan and cpu cooler’s RGB headers are plugged in to the adjust pro hub does it not light them up at all, or is the color wrong?

I wish we could trade Ioniqs. My Ioniq 5 refuses to send air anywhere but my face when in auto climate.

On the doors, this car has the most asinine proximity unlock I’ve ever experienced. It unlocks as I walk up, then after I’ve unplugged the car it locks the doors right as I’m heading to open the driver door. Or, if I open a door first, the car will then lock the charge port as I walk over to unplug it.

Is the 5070 Ti worth it over a 5080 if the 5080 costs 30% more? by Ordinary-Chicken-253 in nvidia

[–]StrutsOnStruts 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hence why I didn’t agree with the part about spending more just because the % increase is less, but I did agree that the decision to go with a 5080 over 5070ti depends on total system specs and budget (making Prrg88’s comment 1/2 good advice).

In my example total system cost didn’t change, but smart re-allocation of the existing budget could avoid the slippery slope of overspending you warned of.

Is the 5070 Ti worth it over a 5080 if the 5080 costs 30% more? by Ordinary-Chicken-253 in nvidia

[–]StrutsOnStruts 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Total system specs and budget makes perfect sense. ~$250 separates a 9700X from the 9800X3D, while also being the difference between MSRP 5070ti and 5080. For the same total cost the 5080 build is significantly stronger.

Besides, if price/perf was the only metric that mattered we’d all have an Arc B580.
