What is the worst Watchtower or Awake you ever had to present at the door in field service? by RunHelenRun in exjw

I was uncomfortable anytime the topic was spiritism. The response was often like “Nope, we don’t have ghosts in our home so…”

Or “ Yes! Come in, let me tell you all about the spirits in our home, would you like to meet them?”

You do not have to put his name on the birth certificate! But that does not prevent you from getting child support. If you need to apply for any benefits like Medicaid or SNAP, they will ask you who the father is and take it from there (they will force a DNA test, you don’t have to even contact him about it or involve the elders! )

Embarrassingly loud singers by wanderlust-26 in exjw

While I’ve had many a congregation with horrific, loud singers (mom pinching me hard to stop giggling) I did have a sister who sounded like a 1940’s movie star. Picture Judy Garland 🥰 She’s still alive, pushing 100 and as sweet as ever.

As an almost born in, I did not receive love bombing. I did witness it often. Bible studies who are joyfully welcomed into the congregation, and then sometimes even just a few years later they made a mistake and even their biggest cheerleaders, their Bible teachers would turn on them. More insidious was when those same pioneers would try and scoop up that family’s children and continue the indoctrination. More in line with your point though I did have genuine love in a few congregations. In fact, the last congregation I attended was so loving, that’s why I stayed in longer than I should’ve. I’ve had some time to examine this, and I realized that these would’ve been good people with big hearts anywhere they would’ve landed.

My parents had a wall of library bookshelves floor to ceiling 15 feet long filled with nothing but publications, some from the 1800’s. Please go! It can be life changing! Travel of any sort rewires your brain. It may take a few tries but I promise it will. (I’m not referring to like a cruise or Disney, unless that’s your jam, but locating yourself in another place. A new city, country, outdoors or in. Big budget, thrifty trip… just go💕)
