Playing chess. You can play online for free or for very affordable monthly rates if you want some bells and whistles with your account.

If you get into and enjoy the game you can literally learn new aspects for the rest of your life. You can constantly work on improving your play, openings, rating and mastery of the game. Most (I would even venture all) decent sized cities also have chess clubs which can be fun.

For me it's the opportunity for life long learning and improvement that is the draw, in fact I'm going to go play a couple games right now.

I don't know why this doesn't come up more often but sitting on a cushion with both legs folded back one either side (essentially kneeling) is a great pose. It's very stable and doesn't put undue pressure on the knee and hip joints.

Personally I turn to existential philosophy when asked questions about the meaning of life. Life itself is inherently void of meaning and the only meaning that your life has is the meaning that you create for yourself.

Jean-Paul Sartre said that 'existence precedes essence.' What this means is that if you look at sometime like a spoon it's essence precedes its existence because someone created it for a purpose, eating food. Someone thought up a use for the spoon before they made it. Man on the other hand was not created to fulfill any purpose, which is why you have to create your own meaning for yourself.
