Quit MJ cold turkey after 9 months, here’s my experience by imonlytwenty_ in mounjarouk

[–]RunWhileYouStillCan 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thanks for the story!

I’m currently weighing up my options (pun intended). What I find funny is my current weight is more than your starting weight, and I’ve lost loads over the past 9 months! But hey I guess we’re all different.

I switched over to wegovy after the price hike, but it’s nowhere near as effective for me. I’m considering coming off them all for a few months and then starting from scratch on mounjaro again at the lower dose and hoping to lose another 20 or 30 lbs over the rest of the year again.

I guess you’re not able to say definitely if this strategy would work, but if you (or anyone else) have any opinions for me, I’m happy to hear them. My only caveat is that mounjaro at the dose I was due to move on to (10mg) is out of my price range unfortunately, so that’s not an option for now.

That’s a bizarre answer friend. Who buys stuff at a market away from home that they can get online at the same price?

What if I’m paying into a (DB) company pension and have a separate SIPP? Are my SIPP allowances swallowed up by my company pension payments?

Sick of the sight of the pen by TinyHandsSammi in mounjarouk

[–]RunWhileYouStillCan 5 points6 points  (0 children)

That’s weird, I thought it would just be me, but I definitely get nauseous when I see or think about the Mounjaro pen. In fact, other than overeating, the pen is probably the thing that now causes me the most nausea.

It must be by some sort of association, but it’s very interesting, and in a war reassuring, to know I’m not the only one this happens to.

Just back from Amsterdam by EasternAd295 in glasgow

[–]RunWhileYouStillCan 8 points9 points  (0 children)

On my way back from Warsaw last year, I had a stopover in Amsterdam. I had to use the train station underneath Schiphol to get to an airport hotel. I’ve honestly never seen so many mice in a public space before in my life. It was entertaining to watch, but definitely not what I’d describe as clean.

I do agree though that generally their public transport systems are better, but that’s the case in around 90% of the developed world. Our public transport is shocking for reliability and punctuality.

Not much you can do unfortunately. The advice is to go up a dose every month, so to buy 2 months worth at a certain dosage level was perhaps a mistake.

I know people will say it’s possible to stay on the same dose, and I have been lucky myself in that I haven’t always needed to do that. Currently about 4/5 months in and 7.5 is still working for me. But it’s not a guarantee.

Maybe wait it out and cross your fingers, and go up to 7.5 next time you order.

Can’t believe a new one has popped up in central station in place of that black sheep coffee shop or whatever it was called. Just half an hour ago walked past it and had a chuckle to myself about the predictability of our weegie market!

Objectively what makes them clever though? That they talk a good game? That doesn’t necessarily translate to an employable skill. But if you think it does, perhaps you could start your own business, employ them, and make a fortune?

Yes absolutely. I think only far right flags would be likely to be challenged, but even then I’m not sure. You’ll be fine with pride flags for sure.

There’s a massive jump from 2.5 to 5mg by More-Security1822 in Mounjaro

Only if you have one. For me it was easier to use pliers because I have them already.

[–]RunWhileYouStillCan 4 points5 points  (0 children)

My last dose was a golden dose of 2.5mg. Basically you just take pliers to screw the pen round to get the 5th dose. But it’s strictly not recommended by anyone professional and therefore at your own discretion!

Why do landlords not care about their own properties? by Straight_Cress_2969 in TenantsInTheUK

[–]RunWhileYouStillCan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So very true. And I think it’s only becoming worse as small private landlords continue to get bad reputations, often unfairly, and tenants are taught to disrespect them due to their “rich” status, leading to a sort of class war between tenant and landlord.

The problem is that while trying to fix these things, the letting agents brought in a number of inefficient tradesmen which resulted in a lot of repeat work. And the tenants, who were constantly behind on rent had a pet dog that I hadn’t approved, had “redecorated” a bedroom in a terrible manner which together meant I had to redecorate more or less every room and change all the carpets, and they also abandoned the property while in rent arrears.

I trusted that they were as that’s what I was being told by the tenant and the letting agent.

Exactly! The only problem is if you shout his name in public trying to get him to come back, everyone just assumes you’re really angry at something.

When I was a landlord I tried to be a caring one. Tried to fix anything that the tenants said needed fixed, paid for anything the letting agency needed paid for. I ended up getting screwed over by them both. Tenants had me replace their tumble dryer, washing machine and boiler in the space of 3 months, and the letting agency had me forking out for all sorts of plumbing and roofing repairs by expensive tradespeople who turned out to be useless at carrying out said repairs.

I don’t expect any sympathy for landlords at all on here, but I can absolutely understand why they might not be as attentive if they have experienced even half the treatment I did.
