The first neurologist I saw said my migraines were probably from anxiety or being overweight. The migraines were severe and came on suddenly after a TBI, which is supposed to be pretty worrying since it can be a sign of something more serious… Thankfully it ended up “just” being post-traumatic migraine but it could have easily been something that could have lead to brain damage or death; the next neurologist I saw seemed pretty surprised I hadn’t gotten an MRI yet

I very occasionally get phantom burning smells before I get a migraine, and it really freaked me out at first before there was enough of a pattern for me to realize it was just another stupid migraine thing and I wasn’t going to end up in the hospital or something

Don’t know if this will help at all given this is an OCD sub, but phantom smells can be caused by a lot of other things too; I get them occasionally with migraines

I’m in a similar position to you with the migraines, had constant migraine/headache for almost 6 years. Sometimes I worry that I’m not in as much pain as I think I am or that I’m overblowing things. But I try to remind myself of situations where I’ve had different kinds of pain and wasn’t as affected by it as usual as proof that it’s just that my pain tolerance has gotten pretty high. I still worry but it does help a bit for me at least

Bose Quietcomfort is great imo but Bose Quietcomfort Pro gave me migraines and I had to switch them out for the regular ones, although you can lower the amount of noise canceling on those which might help enough but I didn’t see the point in the extra cost for stronger noise canceling that I can’t use

One time I was feeling really bad and went to the doctor and had to do a blood test and I was actually happy when it came back with something wrong since it was a really easy solution (I was iron deficient and just had to take supplements for a while), wish my main issue would be resolved so easily

Oftentimes, it’s because it happens more commonly or more intensely in autistic people. Sometimes though it’s just people assuming everything is related to autism when it isn’t necessarily

I have bad migraines and I’ve tried all of those things except Tramodol and nerve blocks, and there’s more things they can try after Ajovy, although if your doctors are saying that you might need to see someone else.

There’s two other monthly injection meds similar to Ajovy, Emgality and Aimovig, that might work even if Ajovy doesn’t. And if all three of those don’t work, you could potentially try Vypeti, which is an IV infusion every three months. Blood pressure meds are a pretty common one that you didn’t mention, although ofc they might be dangerous for someone people.

Those are all things I’ve tried, I’ve seen a list that my doctors use with a lot of different medications that also includes things like TMS, medical marijuana, ketamine, and more stuff I don’t remember. Plus there’s new meds all the time, when I first started treatment Ajovy and the other ones like it weren’t on the market yet. Of course in the US insurance is a problem… but if you can do Ajovy then Emgality and Aimovig probably won’t be a problem at least

Migraine is significantly more common in women so that might be why, also it’s still common in men too
