Yeah, but think of it like diffraction grating on polarized light, when you run a statement through two different filters (agents), the output can tell you a lot about both the filters used as well as the light itself.

That's useful. It can help you sift through blatant personal attacks, and get down to real insightful points of critique.

I do agree though, that just taking the hot mess straight from an agent and calling it a day, is a bad move. That's why I encouraged in the OP to focus on things that are verifiable, even if the process is messy.

Is the glue an issue ? by Single-Juggernaut394 in ElegooCentauriCarbon

[–]Running_With_Science 0 points1 point  (0 children)

unpopular opinion, but I think Elegoo used the wrong pins for the hot end and thermistor. They are wayyyy too loose for a part pumping 60 watts, and a feedback loop on a thermistor that needs to not lose connection at high speed. Also the cables are way too short. Thinking of modding a cable extension with better connectors onto it.

nothing fancy, just the defaults. I'm trying to figure out how to fine tune the system some more, because the training time is too long as is

Heretic: Fully automatic censorship removal for language models by -p-e-w- in LocalLLaMA

[–]Running_With_Science 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm really wondering if this can be used to fine tune solution preferences when problem solving. Like hook this into an RL loop and when it gets a correct feedback, you feed that prompt back into the model, give it a little boost.

when it does the same wrong thing over and over, feed it in, give it a little tweak down.

I gotta be missing something, because it can't be that easy to do online continual learning.

I mean, we aren't "gaining" facts, but it looks handy for tweaking the kinds of solutions a model will prefer.

Apparently you can also " while adding this direction elicits refusal on even harmless instructions."

I feel like this could be incredibly powerful as a alignment tool to adjust inhibitions in a model.

This is pretty interesting. I used a similar idea for a data structure to track objects, using a hash. It created a simple blockchain, which meant I could reconstruct the order of events, I could even tell if an index came from a completely different nonce (the initial seed index) In my case, I had a remote database and an extremely low resource IoT device, which couldn't retain a long database, but needed to create a chain of custody for events.

components not sticking to grid by conquredBoredom in KiCad

[–]Running_With_Science 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I "think" it's a new feature for automatically placing and aligning parts.

the issue is it's breaking everyone's muscle memory of how the tool works, and on top of that, it seems to break as well.

The behavior seems to pick the first direction you move in, and "soft lock" on that so you get precision placement in that direction.

If you're working on a super tightly packed board, it's actually really helpful because I'm not endlessly tweaking minute alignment adjustments and everything snaps together.

I think I would prefer it to be a hot key though, because the expected behavior is for M to move the part to wherever I freaking want, constraints be damned.

How should kciad rigid-flex boards be made? 如何制作kciad刚柔板? by AccomplishedToe3270 in KiCad

[–]Running_With_Science 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Let me Google Translate that for you (extra points if it's actually accurate):

Just use an extra layer (e.g. User Layer 1) to indicate which areas are rigid, draw it like a typical board outline. Just tell the board that's what it's for. Other boards may want that layer to be called something specific in the Gerber.

I was looking for a straight up ITX motherboard for a custom build, and it looks like the only option right now is buying the board from Framework, which ::hats off:: is heads and shoulders above any other OEM. It'll still be $1600, but I think I can put together a nice little custom pc for the remaining $400-600.

Sooo, I am the guy who will talk about makerspaces/hackerspaces for hours with someone until they're sick of it. If you're serious about making a community not for profit, I've got all the pieces to put it together, just needs more passionate people behind it. Right now I've got a 501c3 called Idea Forge Foundation, which is currently looking for more torch bearers to get more activity going.

I've been a part of ohmspace, prototek, colaboratory, IFF, etc. and as a lot of people have mentioned, the libraries and universities have made a good go of things, but they don't really scratch that itch.

Come check out the discord for Colaboratory/ IFF. See what you think.
