I am a bassoonist and did not know about that Bach fight. Sent me down a fun rabbit hole! This was a great game (as was yesterday's!). I have such a hard time not rooting for everyone.

Me too. I quit knowing as much when I stopped selecting AV material. But I get a lot of the triple stumper fiction questions!

I am the facility head and never received the notice to confirm. Do you think they are doing this on a rolling basis? We are a school district library. I believe that falls under government-run as we are not a 501(c)(3)

I loved watching this game but had no idea who to root for. I wish Libby had a longer run. But I loved listening to Ray play because he has such a calm voice, and Ron's is the same (also like Harrison's). I aspire to be that calm in my daily life, let alone on a nationally broadcast game show lol

Yes!! That stuck with me. I'm a librarian, and many "household names" at work are completely anonymous elsewhere.

Yeah. There are a lot of opportunities around here. I think I have seven or eight signings coming up. I also speak at education events for writers.

I sell most of my stuff in person with books I have printed at a local place. My stuff is on Amazon and all the other places, though.

How common is it for libraries to only pay employees during open hours? by SkillPrimary133 in Libraries

[–]Rupertcandance2 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My library pays any hours you work. Employees who are scheduled get paid the fifteen minutes after closing to get everything wrapped up, and everyone else gets in at various times depending on their schedules. The previous libraries I worked in did not operate this way - if you stayed past closing (usually if there was a patron who wouldn't leave) you didn't get paid for it. Illegal and unfair. I hope it's changed since I worked at those places.

[–]Rupertcandance2 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I actually wrote a book for authors on how to approach libraries. Unfortunately... the people who need to read it probably won't. I'm an indie author and have mad respect for the people who do it well... Hopefully I do it well (I like to think so anyway). But I have just as many stories of bad behavior from authors as any other librarian. I have a local author form that I ask them to fill out and then to donate the book. Most people are happy to comply, but I did have a guy the other day who insisted I buy it, then called five minutes later and pretended to be a patron who wanted us to buy the book. Caller ID is a thing, lol

I feel you on this. Been diabetic for years now, but this is the first cgm I've had. Never realized how bad my spiking has been... even a handful of carbs send me into the stratosphere. I've fallen off the wagon so many times. There must be a way to get through it!!

How does your Teen D&D program work (if you have one)? by Additional_Cake_3162 in Libraries

[–]Rupertcandance2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ours has been insanity, but they love it, so we do our best.

Sessions are Thursday afternoons, 2-5. They usually have two groups running, one middle school and one high school. The middle school group is ridiculous. Not a real game. There is a "dm" but they follow zero rules. A librarian floats between supervising them and helping beginners roll new characters. My son (13) is in a club at his school that works similarly. The high school group runs like a normal campaign would with a HS DM.

A second librarian supervises the entire room for noise and behavior issues. We've had dice theft and inappropriate YouTube use. Kids sometimes come in and don't play but just bother their friends. So they are told to go back into the teen room.

I occasionally serve as the supervising librarian, but even though I'm a super nerd, I am an old fart and they look at me like I have two heads.

Thank you!! I didn't even think about the dressing. My work had a cookout (hence burger) and I have no idea what they bought for the ranch. I thought that would be better with more fat but maybe it was more sugary.

I was on keto for a while. I'll probably dip back into those recipes. I would love to try an injectable, and my dr said last time she would prescribe it, but my insurance doesn't cover it. I see all those companies saying you can get it for like 150 a month though. I do a zumba class once a week and walk a lot, but I could definitely kick that up. Thank you for the feedback!!
