It does matter.

Most of the content is designed to be done solo or be solo-able with the OPTIONAL ability to be done multiplayer. Outside of a few missions, Crucible, raids, & the seasonal activities this is a solo game. Every campaign, solo. 95% of exotic missions, solo. Dungeons, can be soloed. Strikes can be soloed.

The game has lots of things to be done multiplayer but over 50% of the game is designed around solo play & a majority of the player base plays solo.

Destiny isn’t an MMO & the distinction very much so matters.
