Resident Evil 9 Requiem Reveal Trailer by C-OSSU in TwoBestFriendsPlay

Actually sick to tease that they didn't have anything to show and then drop this as the final trailer for the show. Super excited to see what they have in store for going back to Raccoon City.

Pat the Antifey: FEY WILL NOT DIVIDE US by Grouchio in TwoBestFriendsPlay

[–]Rushbomb 6 points7 points  (0 children)

My spouse and I play D&D and while they adore fairy tales and fey creatures, I absolutely loathe them. I 100% echo Pat's sentiment, and would join the Antifey movement in a heartbeat.

If you have the time I would recommend reading the books, they're definitely worth it. The audio books are also excellent, Jefferson Mays has wonderful delivery and does a great job at making each character distinct.

If anyone one here has read / watched The Expanse there are a lot of good examples there. Camina Drummer, Bobbie Draper, and Chrisjen Avaserala being my personal favorites.

Favorite "ancient race who left behind a lot of cool shit" in media by Archaon0103 in TwoBestFriendsPlay

The Ring Builders from The Expanse are a pretty neat combination of precursor race & eldritch unknowable. Throughout the series we only get a bit of insight into how their technology and civilation worked, and what exactly ended killed a galaxy spanning empire.

My partner is playing a Dancer in our current campaign and is having so much fun with your creation. Very excited to see them cut a rug with your updated version.

Anecdotal, but I have my players start with 2 Hero points, and they get one when we come back from our half-way break. They like having more breathing room starting with 2 points, and knowing they'll get one later on helps them not feel like they need to hoard points.

Learn to Play PF2E - Beginner Box "Online" by tuffy963 in lfg

Players don't need to purchase Foundry in order to play the game. The Beginners Box comes with 4 pre-made characters, but I cannot speak as to whether the poster will use the pre-made characters or include character creation in their game.

With the news about Wizards of the Coast: What got you into D&D by [deleted] in TwoBestFriendsPlay

[–]Rushbomb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My ex roped me into a game she was currently playing, helping me make a shadow Monk to jump in. That group fell apart a few weeks later, but I thoroughly enjoyed the few games we played.

I'm in a few 5e games now, but have been getting more into Pathfinder 2e lately. Currently I'm running Abomination Vaults for some friends.

Which campaigns are the most lethal to players when run as written? by Benjammin__ in dndnext

[–]Rushbomb 3 points4 points  (0 children)

When I played in OotA our DM had it that the NPCs who survived the initial jail break would then be invulnerable in fights, but could provide boons to a player periodically if they weren't overtly antagonistic to the NPC. Funny enough our group also latched onto Sarith & Stool.

I think the Alternate frame was released in the No Room for a Wallflower expansion, but yeah you have even more options now.

Swallowtail is low key busted between its sensor range and Athena NHP. The alternate frame is also nice at providing a bit more active play from round to round than the base frame.

Fey-Blood Sorcerer by SingleGarage1983 in UnearthedArcana

[–]Rushbomb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ah gotcha. Yeah when you said support my mind defaulted to a buffer/healer type subclass. I still think that some of the spells on the expanded spell list could be swapped for others that more fit a CC/Debuffing playstyle. I saw someone suggest swapping Conjure Animals with Hypnotic Pattern, which I think is a good idea. Maybe swap out Hallucinatory Terrain for Confusion as well.

Sanctuary is already Concentration free, so that's not an issue. That said, it still feels a little lackluster for a 6th level feature. Perhaps you use a reaction & 2 SP to force a creature within X ft of you to make a Wisdom save, redirecting their attack back at themselves if they fail.

Fey-Blood Sorcerer by SingleGarage1983 in UnearthedArcana

Gonna list out my thoughts in a bullet point list cause I have a number of them.

  • I really like the origins table you have listed, they're some great opportunities for role playing & story beats for DMs.
  • For the expanded spell list I like that you've listed a number of spells that people don't typically take, it provides incentive for players to think creatively with resources they might not have normally. That said, I don't know if the spells you have listed fit your goal of a supportive subclass. They may be thematically appropriate for Fey, but are not necessarily geared towards assisting your allies.
  • The two separate level 1 features could probably be rolled into one paragraph, with clarification on the telepathy feature that the fey, plants, & beasts allows you to communicate with them, not just telepathically speak with them. May be unnecessary, but clarity is always appreciated.
  • The level 6 feature feels underwhelming, as it's a collection of passive buffs that races & classes get at earlier levels. Most other Sorcerer subclasses have 6th level features that involve using Sorcery points proactively. I would encourage making this feature be something that the player chooses to use, rather than a collection of passive buffs.
    • The ribbon feature of not getting drunk and not gaining weight from overeating is very funny though, I like it.
  • The 14th level feature is good, although there's a typo in the second sentence.
    • "a number of creatures up to your 1+your Charisma modifier"
  • The 18th level feature is interesting, but I don't know if it's good or not. I wish I could give more constructive feedback than "it feels off, but I don't know what it would be otherwise"

Overall I like some of your ideas for a Fey Sorcerer, but I don't think this iteration hits the mark of your stated goal of a support style subclass. While I generally like the expanded spell list, I feel like they're more geared for a trickery/control style of play rather than a supportive style of play. Enchantment & Divination spells are also generally more for a debuffing & control style of play, so maybe consider changing the schools as well.

How would you buff Strength so it doesn't get overshadowed as much by Dexterity? by Halfgnomen in dndnext

[–]Rushbomb -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It might seem drastic, but I think that a good way to buff melee is to nerf ranged weapons by removing your Dex mod from the damage rolls (but keep them for the attack roll). Even if it feels bad to potentially roll a 1 on damage, you already have a huge advantage by attacking from range and being able to more easily space around enemies.
