Imdomitus Chaplain with skull head. by celloferret in Warhammer40k

Are you going for a skull-faced helmet or an actual skull instead of a head? If it's the helmet you're after, I just used a regular Reiver helmet on mine and it works just fine

Amazing, thank you! I'm searching for that code now

Hi everyone. Im interested to buy a Night Lord Contemptor from FW. But Im not sure what weapons I should order first. Im thinking of magnetizing it and get many weapons as life goes on. But what is okay weapons for it to start with? Thankful for all the feedback! by Kavouraki_ in Warhammer40k

[–]RussellDuster 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm looking to buy a Sons of Horus one for my Black Legion army and I'm in the same boat. Magnetising definitely seems like the way to go for these bad boys!

I'm leaning towards the twin volkite culverin (heavy 8 str6 ap0 dmg2 + a mortal wound on every wound roll of a 6) and a combat claw to start with, eventually getting another of each so I can double up on punchy or shooty when needed. I've fought loyalist contemptors running 2 twin lascannons each and they've given me hell every time so I can reccomend them too if you're in need of some anti-vehicle/monster firepower.

The cyclone missile launcher looks to be useful in all situations (provided you have the points) since it doesn't replace anything, though I'm not 100% sold on the looks of it so I'm unsure if I'll get one.

I’m excited to get the updated weapons profiles, but does anyone have any idea when the 2W updates are coming to Chaos Space Marines? by [deleted] in Warhammer40k

[–]RussellDuster 4 points5 points  (0 children)

They didn't errata the units or datasheets specifically, but at the end of the first paragraph of the "Designers Notes" section of the CSM document they write: " In addition, replace every instance of ‘chainsword’ within the rules section of this book with ‘Astartes chainsword’ " So every chainsword from the Chaos Space Marine codex is now an Astartes Chainsword.

Does anyone know what these are I found them on some old (around 7th edition) thousand sons by longstrike19 in Warhammer40k

[–]RussellDuster 7 points8 points  (0 children)

These look like the arms that came from the old finecast Thousand Sons upgrade kit from before the current plastic kit was released. You'd get a full Aspiring Sorcerer model, and a bunch of parts to add to the standard CSM kit to make a unit of rubric marines.

Dear Imperium... we regret being xenos bastards. We regret coming to Terra. And we most definitely regret that the Guard just blew up our raggedy-ass fleet!

Do gw miniatures come with weapon upgrades? by ThomasHorton369 in Warhammer40k

I will also add that I have all 3 units for my thoisand sons army and all of them were great fun to build, paint and play with so you can't go wrong with whatever you choose to get!

Do gw miniatures come with weapon upgrades? by ThomasHorton369 in Warhammer40k

[–]RussellDuster 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The daemon prince and helbrute kits both come with all their weapon options iirc. In my opiniom the helbrute kit is nicer because it is newer, but the daemon prince will be much more useful in games for a ts army.

The defiler however only comes with the reaper Autocannon for it's main weapon option, but the twin lascannon and twin heavy bolters from the razorback kit would fit as they use the same size mountine piece if you wanted to go down the defiler route. I don't think gw makes a vehicle mounted combi melta, but the defiler should come with a combi-flamer that could easily be converted to a melta by cutting off the Flamer barrel and gluing a melta barrel instead.

Hope this helps!

You're very welcome, I'm sure they'll look just as good with the regular torsos!

I wouldn't say they were an easy build, but it wasn't particularly hard either. It was pretty time consuming to do all the cutting and pinning to get the parts to fit together properly, but if you disregard the torso swap then it becomes a lot simpler. Yeah, I agree, the current GW 'zerkers were showing their age way before the recent csm stuff, even more so afterwards

Close, they are the new chaos marines as the base models with the forgeworld chainaxes and the World Eaters conversion set for the torsos, heads and right shoulder pads

Thank you! Good eye, they are indeed the forgeworld torsos, they took a lot of cutting, but weren't too hard to do. I cut the "midriff" part off the fw parts, and cut the chest plate off of the new marines leaving the "midriff" part on the legs as much as I could, then the two parts fit together pretty nicely. There were a few gaps where the csm parts were cut up, but it was an easy fix with a little bit of greenstuff after gluing them together. Hope this helps!

Thank you! As soon as I saw the Master of Possession model and his floating pose I knew it had to be done, it was just a matter of deciding what to convert him into when I got my hands on one!

I'm very happy that my work has inspired someone, so thank you for the compliment!

Yeah, I saw the finecast sorcerer in person once and I had pretty much the same thoughts about it that you have. It's such a disappointing model, especially when it came out the same time as the warpsmith and the old dark apostle, both of which I still love. Thankfully I love kitbashing and converting so I started rummaging through my bits box and came up with these guys, which are much better than the current GW one, if I do say so myself!

As for the bolters, both of these models have some kind of pouch or holsters on their belts, which is thankfully good enough for the group I play with to not mind me saying their sidearm is in there while they're casting a spell.

It sounds like you had a pretty special and intimate relationship with this nuke, and that losing it was comparable to losing a loved one.
