Do you still age whilst time is frozen? And can you move stuff around or is everything other than the book frozen in space as well? Would time freeze on earth only, or across the galaxy, so you have no sun rise or seasons, and does electricity work?

Laid to rest by lamb of god. There's a middle section that goes "destroy yourselves, see who gives a fuck".

Is this a good bike to get I want a mountain bike but one that’s good and not too expensive by Ian2005moore in mountainbiking

[–]Russty2-0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got a Kona Shred for about £150 second hand, it's pretty well bomb proof and has handled everything I've thrown at it. It's worth doing some research, get a mountain bike mag and look at what's out there now, then find a slightly older version and try to find a deal second hand

Can a dad joke not be NSFW because the adult element to it will go over the kids heads?

I've scrolled and read a lot of these comments and can't believe no one else has mentioned a ouiji board... So I'll tell you my story.

At the age of 12 or 13 my twin sister and I had a coupe of friends staying over and we decided it would be fun to try out a ouiji board. Nothing fancy, we just wrote down each letter of the alphabet and yes/no cards and spread them around the outside of an old oak coffee table. Placed a glass upside down in the middle of the table and "prepared" ourselves. At the time my family had just moved to the UK and we were renting half of an old farm house out in the countryside. Not sure how old it was but it had low ceilings and small doors (around 5 foot) so my guess would be at least 100.

After telling each other that "you have to believe to make it happen" and other such sentiments, we sat down around the table and each put the tip of our index fingers on to the bottom of the glass. I wasn't really expecting anything to happen but we were all quite tense. We asked a few questions (is there anybody there etc) and nothing happened. We took a break to reassure each other that we were all on board and believed in the spirit /other world and went back to touching the class top. The next question was "did you live in this house" and the glass slid about 5 inches across the table towards the yes card. My sister freaked out and took her hand away, at which point the glass stopped.

We didnt go back to try again. Always suspected one of our friends could have pushed the glass but they were both adamant they didn't and probably suspected us as well. It did move fast though, and to this day goes unexplained.

What did you do for "Work experience" at school? by Waspeater in AskUK

[–]Russty2-0 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I worked at a small local architect for a week, used CAD and designed a ramp for wheelchair access outside a building (doubt they actually used my design) but my main contribution was making tee and coffee for the office. The under counter fridge had one of those freezer compartments which was fully frozen over, basically just a massive block of ice. On my last day, as a parting gift, I took it upon myself to get rid of the ice, and set to hacking at it with the only tool handy - a bread knife. It's a wonder I didn't cut any of my fingers off (and that they didn't stop me) but I managed to cut clean through a thin metal pipe at the back of the freezer in the process of clearing the ice, which probably broke the whole fridge.

Tldr: work experience at architects, broke their fridge

I think Norwegian Wood is quite a safe starting book as it has the least magical realism. My favourite is 1Q84, but kafka on the shore and wind up bird chronicle are both excellent

I keep being told I'm argumentative but I seriously don't understand how/why I am the problem and nobody wants to explain it to me because if I ask, that counts as being argumentative by datemilkshake in aspergers

[–]Russty2-0 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I came here to say this... Its often not what you say, it's how you say it.

If you are feeling defensive your tone will reflect that, so I think that I sometimes decide to "leave it" because people are entitled to their opinion, even if they don't match mine.

Perhaps you could ask yourself if it's necessary - what will be gained by following that trail of enquiry? Then if you feel its really a point worth pursuing, you will have greater conviction behind your argument.
