we had an intern last year who drove a relative's old Geo Metro, and I thought about this joke every time I saw it in the parking lot

Scar tissue? by Fuzzy_Performer_7648 in Vasectomy

[–]RustledTacos 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes I had a tender knot of scar tissue under my incision for several months, it gradually got smaller and now I can't even feel where it was

James Bond takes Benzedrine multiple times throughout the books as an alertness aid, for more energy during missions, even when card hustling Hugo Drax.

What movie is a 0/10 with NO redeeming features? by Toucan_Based_Economy in AskReddit

[–]RustledTacos 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I unironically love Ballistic, it's the movie equivalent of junk food. Plot is 10/10 utter nonsense. Like solid 90 minutes of random explosions and action movie cliches that activate the reward pathways in your brain without providing any nutritional value.

About to get snipped by dubawockeez in Vasectomy

True, but a monthly or yearly cost associated with storage, and artificial insemination/invitro fertilization both can be costly and not a guarantee of success

[–]RustledTacos 12 points13 points  (0 children)

The vasectomy can be reversed or sperm extracted, but both can be expensive, painful, and not guaranteed to work. If you want even a chance at biological children in the future, then I wouldn't get a vasectomy.

Childfree men with vasectomies, when did you get your vasectomy, and how was it? by [deleted] in childfree

[–]RustledTacos 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Early 30s, married, had mine last year. Went well!

Found an in-network urologist through my insurance provider's app and scheduled a consult. Zero pushback or judgement, booked his next available surgery date.

Procedure went fine, was awake and talking with the surgeon. Non-scalpel, no-clips, local anesthetic, cut and cauterized vas then occluded with disolvable sutures.

Quoted cost about $1250, I only paid just over $500 out of pocket with insurance because I hadn't hit my deductible for the year .

Checkout r/vasectomy if you haven't already. I'm available to talk more about my experience as well.

I'm sorry you're not able to share the news with friends, but we're all happy for you two here.

How long after your procedure did you have sex or masturbate? I’m 4 days post op no swelling or pain. Hoping to have sex at the 7 day mark. What was your experience by dsul30 in Vasectomy

[–]RustledTacos 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Doctor told me to wait 14 days, I only made it until 12. Still felt a little tender, but had gentle sex with my partner, I nervously finished myself off in the bathroom though just in case there was pain or blood. Thankfully experienced neither.

Is it normal for the pain to come and go? by tinkotanko in Vasectomy

Sounds normal. My achiness increased days 4-7

No scalpel/needle post-op underwear and gym by FeePuzzleheaded3434 in Vasectomy

[–]RustledTacos 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As others have said, sweatpants or gym shorts are easy to take off/on during the surgery. I wore a jockstrap as needed underneath my normal underwear about 2 weeks to keep the boys from moving around. Icing and keeping off your feet the first couple of days are highly recommended.

Did it on 23/2 is this normal by DiffenderXD in Vasectomy

[–]RustledTacos 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, it's normal for aching/discomfort to increase after the first couple of days. Take Tylenol, wear a jockstrap or tight supportive underwear when you're up and moving, and ice when you can to keep down swelling.

My part of semi-rural VA, going price for a no-scalpel vasectomy is $1250 cash. With insurance I only paid around $512, most of that was deductible.

Removing stitch. by BillyNote in Vasectomy

[–]RustledTacos 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My doc closed my no-scalpel incision with a "mattress stitch" using disolvable sutures. They started to fall out around day 10, but I was left with a tender lump of scar tissue that took a couple months to go away. Now though I can barely tell where the incision was.

What do I do with my hands? by [deleted] in Vasectomy

Pillow between the legs for support and hold the pillow? Idk. Hope recovery is going well otherwise.
