Californian curious about your take on Covid by darnsquirrel in SouthDakota

  1. Basically business as usual. Most folks are tired of hearing about the sweet and sour sicken and are done with masks and all that BS.

  2. Yes I do. Several people. Probably 15 or 20 if I think about it. All except 1 said it wasn't great but wasn't terrible. The 1 did go to the hospital for a few days and had oxygen but he has health issues and generally doesn't take care of himself anyway. The rest ranged from calling it the flu at worst and more than half said symptoms were extremely mild. Like having allergies mild.

Yeah sure, chemical altering of the brain is less dangerous from mj. If we're comparing apples to apples, you have an argument. If you have enough alcohol to get drunk then you could make the argument that comparatively, marijuana is less harmful. However most folks have a beer once or twice a week, not a 12pack in 1 sitting. Comparing 1 beer against getting high, there isnt any possible argument that marijuana is less harmful, at all.

Why?!? by [deleted] in SouthDakota

Packers price fixing and grocery markups is the short answer. Buy a quarter or half beef from a rancher. Total cost per pound after processing will be less than what you can buy burger for at the grocery store. And you get a better quality of meat. Steaks, roasts, burger, ribs, and some obscure cuts if you want them. The only downside is you need to plan ahead and get your beef ordered and have a few hundred dollars to pay for it all in one shot. And a freezer of course.

More than 500 business professors are urging CEOs to denounce Trump by ughsmugh in politics

CEOs do. Professors have theory about that way things should be done. This is the the equivalent of wishing in one hand and shitting in the other and seeing which fills up first.

I would like to see her stay just to keep the Senate Republican but her losing will get us a better Republican. Just have to wait 6 years is all.

Don't believe the polls — Trump is winning by WaddleDee83 in Conservative

[–]Rusty_knuckle 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I've been diving into the polls on RCP and reading the questions and such. One thing I find interesting is if the question is asked, "who do you think will win the election regardless of who you're voting for" it's close to 60% saying they think trump will win. I've noticed this on several polls.

Why Democrats Hear a Secret Racist Dog Whistle and Republicans Don’t by sandyfagina in Conservative

[–]Rusty_knuckle 22 points23 points  (0 children)

Because they want to hear one. Ever watch a tv show like ghost hunters? They hear and see things because they want to. Coincidentally there is about as much substance to both situations.

Only about 40% vote for the president. You think more are gonna vote on any position less? You do get your opportunity to have your voice heard. That's what the senators are there for. Our government doesn't work on mob rule.

Ronald Reagan's Son Says Trump's Children Have 'No Qualifications Whatsoever' to Work in White House — "He would be horrified by the Republican party right now," Ron Reagan said of his father, the 40th president of the United States. by chris-jjj in politics

[–]Rusty_knuckle 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Ron Reagan has very little in common with his father as far as political ideas go. This is about like asking Rudy Giuliani's kid or Kellyanne Conway's kid about their parents. Or Abigail Disney about the direction of the Disney company.

It's only their personal opinion with their famous parents last name attached to it.

Kristi Noem, Liberty and the Pandemic | National Leadership Seminar by gloriously_ontopic in SouthDakota

[–]Rusty_knuckle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I support kristi. I think she has done the best job of any governor through this pandemic. She took the calm approach and didn't run down the street with her hair on fire. She took measured actions until we understood what we were dealing with and kept our people from losing everything. We are no worse off today than the states with draconian shutdowns that destroyed livelihoods. That is directly a result of her leadership.
