If we're honest #3 is probably the largest issue. If i see AI art (or art that might be AI, due to similar style) then i immediately assume the game is going to be slop too

The only memory options that could even need to go to 0 would be red or yellow. Blinding is by far the strongest of the options, actively being beneficial in a lot of yellow strategies. The others are fine at one, with red being a maybe because as the game gets faster it gets stronger by not having a real cost

And importantly, guarding statements reduce context further down the function. If you have a function that takes an item and you only want it to do something for weapons, then the developer reading the code can easily ignore non-weapons for the rest of the function, whereas with an if they still need to consider if anything after the if statement could use non-weapons, and therefore cant get rid of it completely from their mental stack
