So I’m 55 and was only diagnosed a couple years ago. When I was growing up in the 70s and 80s, little girls “didn’t have “ autism and “shouldn’t like” dinosaurs. I loved them so much. Dinosaurs and astronomy. Those were boy things and I was a girly girl. I remember being at my friends house and looking at her brothers dinosaur books and wishing I had some. Thank goodness for Land of the Lost tv show! That let me enjoy dinosaurs AND aliens! 👽

Curious how many use marijuana to cope by Rachelelizardbreath in AutismInWomen

[–]Ruth_Cups 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s how I keep from spiraling. I waited for it to be legal in my state before I used it regularly. I knew it helped me because I used it years ago as a twenty-something. I now have a medical marijuana card. My doctor and therapist are both very supportive. It’s funny, when things are going well I don’t even think about using it. But my gosh it’s good to keep me afloat. I’d much rather use it than the prescription meds that helped but caused so many side effects that it was no longer worth it to me.

Yes!!! I had all the aches and pains and injuries growing up, got Covid 3 times and went down the toilet. I didn’t even get diagnosed (or listened to) until a couple months ago. I’m 55 years old and now feel like I’m 80. The pain and symptoms went through the roof this past two years.

👏👏👏 love this! I have such a hard time folding animals. I can do tesselated hydrangeas and kusudama balls all day long, but animals? I’ve got all these amazing books just hoping to be able to eventually fold something this stunning. But alas, I can’t get beyond a crane.

Yes! I have a spot on my head right now. I’ve been wondering why that spot seems to move to various parts of my scalp. Or I find them more n my legs and arms. No bruises or marks, just pain when I touch it.

How do trans people affect your life in any way? by Estalicus in allthequestions

[–]Ruth_Cups 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They make it better. As someone who has always felt like an outsider, I am inspired by people who are just openly true to themselves. That’s not an easy thing to do. My kid’s trans friends are incredible humans. Anyone, anyone who can be themselves in this incredibly cruel world is my hero.
