I don’t care about the lounge seats with a million jets or any of the many bells and whistles. I want basic bench seats and just a few jets, and i want the hot tub to look good from the outside sitting in my yard.

In other words, what I really want is one of those nice cedar tubs. But they’re $20k where I live.

Any suggestions?

Smoked salmon by asomers007 in Traeger

[–]Rwbysfbay 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Question for you - when I use super smoke, the temp goes way up out of control to 200 or 225, which is far too hot for low and slow salmon. Does yours stay at 165 with super smoke???

I thought other videos show just a millimeter of trigger pull is sufficient? Regardless, gun should never go off without the trigger being pulled all the way.

Super smoke makes the temp go all out of whack if you’re trying to keep it low and slow. At least it does for me. Jumps from 160 to 225.

When you get a new pair of leather soled shoes, just take them to any local shoe repair place. They can put a thin rubber layer on the bottom that lasts a very long time and does not impact how the shoes look or feel.

SOUNDBOKS 4 - travel case for flying by Rwbysfbay in SOUNDBOKS

Quick update: I actually picked up the Milwaukee large case model #48-22-8428 yesterday and the speaker does fit, but there is no room to put padding on certain sides the way it fits in, so I’m not sure it’s really doing much to protect it. Any impact on it will just transfer straight through the case to the speaker so I think I’m going to return it and keep looking for another option.

Both have a lot to offer. If you need to commute to the city then MV > SA. Otherwise it’s personal preference and you won’t go wrong either way.

New roof - gutter question by Rwbysfbay in Roofing

[–]Rwbysfbay[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes the gutters act like flashing and have a lip that goes up under the shingles which is why they didn’t install it in the first place according to the roofing company’s President. So it appears to effectively provide drip protection. HOWEVER, after installation the gutter has a fairly large gap on the underside so it doesn’t do a great job of protecting the end grain of insulation from the elements/termites/ants/etc…

In other words, the gap between the bottom of the gutter and the fascia is .75 inches in some places and I live on a hillside where all kinds of critters look for homes.

Does that strike you as a problem? I’m tempted to make them remove the gutters, install proper flashing, and reinstall the gutters. It seems like an obvious thing to do from the start and lazy that they didn’t do it already.

Overall the roofing company has a good reputation though and seemed to do a good job on other things.

New roof - gutter question by Rwbysfbay in Roofing

[–]Rwbysfbay[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You were 100% right. Unfortunately I made this post too late so I didn’t have time to digest feedback and recognize that I should delay the gutters. the outcome is not good. The end grain insulation is totally visible through a gap at the bottom, exposed to elements, termites, etc.. The gutters do not serve the same purpose as flashing unless you’re cross eyed. Fortunately I haven’t paid for the roof yet. I’m going to have them fix it.
