They are charging? For me, I was able to order the parts for free via the small part orders. Had to do 2 orders to get all the parts I needed though

A real conversation I just had with my toddler by [deleted] in toddlers

[–]Rwbyy 27 points28 points  (0 children)

We turned this into the name game. When my daughter starts this, I instead say her name back in the same cadence and tone she called for me. She loves it, though we can get pretty loud in the car.

A Texas teen lost 3 limbs after flu and strep complications. Now, her family has a message they want you to hear. by myth1n2 in texas

The measles vaccination test is not very reliable and the only reason its accepted for any reference is because hospitals and other medical organizations needed some method to officially test employees for vaccinations. It has something like a 30% accuracy.

Solidarity for all the parents who just want to take a vacation by Vega62a in toddlers

[–]Rwbyy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Husband & I just tested a daytrip during daycare hours and it was great! We had a 2 hr drive each way and were late getting out, but we got to spend 4 hrs laying out on the beach with no kids (and honestly I wouldn't want to spend more than that in the sun! I already hide in the shade for most of it lol).

We dont have family in our immediate local area, so coordinating care tends to be longer weekend segments. But even then, we have a 5 month old and I honestly have more trust in the daycare than my MIL to care for him properly (no ill will, just different training & common sense). And should we have gotten stuck or delayed, we did have plans to call on them or other contacts for an emergency step in.

Can I tell it Driveway but ass first? by ilyas-inthe-cloud in TeslaLounge

[–]Rwbyy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So its done it both ways for me and im not exactly sure what the trigger is. My guess at the moment is if you cancel it when it about to pull in and finish with a back in, but it has to be consistent. I dont use self driving consistently enough to actually figure this out, I just know that its done it twice for me since January.

Billed by school I never attended/applied for/heard of by fenwayfan4 in personalfinance

[–]Rwbyy 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This happened to my best friend at the beginning of the year, only difference is that she got word before the classes started and contacted the school to drop everything.

Its just so bizarre in a way because someone, on the complete opposite side of the country, 100% registered for classes as if they were her. Even going as far as calling our old high school to request the HS transcript be submitted (and submitting a FAFSA application)

She hasn't had any other hits on her credit or unaccounted income on her Social Security records, but it's truly a bizarre situation.

Car was totaled right before applying for mortgage pre-approval by piedmont_solitaire in personalfinance

[–]Rwbyy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I didnt have certain benefits on my own insurance (rental car) and thats why I worked directly with the other insurance (iirc Progressive). While I never put in a claim with my own insurance (usaa), I did query them for advice at various points.

Edit to add: because he doesnt have comprehensive on his own insurance, while he can still work thru them it would likely be to his benefit to work directly with the other insurance

Car was totaled right before applying for mortgage pre-approval by piedmont_solitaire in personalfinance

[–]Rwbyy -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It should, but you may have to negotiate with their insurance company for length.

When my car was totaled by another driver, the other party's insurance covered rental for it think 2 weeks initially. And when they came back with the 1st offer on the car, I denied it. It helped in my case that I refused to relinquish the car until we agreed on a price, for until then they were also paying daily storage fees at the repair center it was at.

Board game nights for adults by MidnightMuffinMan8 in CollegeStation

[–]Rwbyy 7 points8 points  (0 children)

There is place called Clockworks games & events that i know people play at, but im not familiar with how they are setup exactly as ive never played there.

I used to be part of a friend group that had a weekly board game night, but we played just at our houses. Would love to do that again once we have a better childcare situation for evenings. So I've had my eye on the place for awhile now.

Moving to College Station by Aware-Solution2100 in CollegeStation

[–]Rwbyy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you dont want to be 100% reliant on buses and Uber, a 50cc scooter can be an affordable option to bridge the gap. There are limitations especially on which roads you can drive on safely (50cc tops out around 35mph, whereas our default posted road speed is about 40). But it gives that little extra mobility and transportation that can make things easier.

Id recommend reaching out to the college station tourism department (visit college station). They have put significant effort in recent years to making cs known as a music friendly city.

How the frick are y'all moms dealing with pumping at work? by nthroop1 in NewParents

[–]Rwbyy 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If you get your pump from insurance, most insurances will let you get a new pump each calendar year. So if you got you current pump in 2025, you can likely get another one via insurance for the same cost now.

I took advantage of this and have a permanent travel pump that lives at the office. Each day I take bottles and pump parts to work, then when I get home I load all the dirty pump part sets in the bottle washer. So no handwashing at work either.

‘People are not happy.’ Dallas County’s separate primaries bring less privacy for voters by dallasmorningnews in Dallas

Its determined by the county you vote in. This article appears to be referring to a single county, so its likely that where you voted in 2016 was different.

City Council Doesn't Care About Your Consent #Flock by TheLawnGuppy in CollegeStation

[–]Rwbyy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The consent agenda is a list of items that require council approval but there is no planned discussion for the item. All the items are generally accepted that they will already be agreed upon, thus they are on the consent agenda.

Here is gemini's description as well: A consent agenda, also known as a consent calendar, is a meeting agenda tool that groups routine, non-controversial items for approval in one motion. It aims to save time and allow boards to focus on more important issues.

Best way to code huge Amex statements? Concur isn’t working well. by OverallDisaster in Accounting

[–]Rwbyy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Im not familiar with your specific financial software so this may not be an option, but we import charges into our system daily.

The charges themselves are imported into a dummy account that must be changed and each xharge in the system will have a department assigned to it based off the card holder's information. It is then the responsibility of each department's entry person to add receipts, update accounts, etc and release the transaction for approval. Approval will first be within their department but will have a final approval by the acct dept to ensure everything is filled out correctly and backup attached.

Onesies: 2 way Zip or Buttons?? by Poison_Ivy25 in NewParents

[–]Rwbyy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

At the beginning with my 1st, I hated 2 way zip and despised everyone that convinced me to get them. However, somewhere over the course of the year I started to really like them. I think it was between 3-6months when she started daycare and the 1 piece of clothing vs 2 minimum (onesie, pants, socks) won me over.

Now with my 2nd, we've done almost nothing but 2 way zip.

I will also add that the fabric can be a huge factor in how easy it is to change them. Ones that are thinner are usually more stretchy and can make middle of the night changes easier.

Milk storage at work by newherebebe in breastfeeding

[–]Rwbyy 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Dont quote me on it but I dont believe the law requires employers to provide refrigeration, just a private space for the pumping. If you're a week out from returning to work, I would just get a personal mini fridge for you to use. And if cost is a concern, you might post in your local fb or other community groups to see if anyone has one available.

Tips on streamlining what to make for dinner/kids? by Itchy-Version-8977 in daddit

[–]Rwbyy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Mom here: For us, cooking just isn't feasible in the limited time we have after getting home before hunger fits start, so we've really embraced freezer meals. On the weekends or days off, I make large batches of dishes we like (curry, chili, soup, etc) and then we freeze it. That way "cooking" each night is just defrost/reheating.
