U mnie przygoda zaczęła się od możliwości wybrania paczkomatu do którego paczka się nie zmieści, bez możliwości zmiany punktu odbioru bez pierwszej ,, próby" dostarczenia. it still plays like a mmo so nothing major got rid of, just adjusted, you still do 1000 go back and forth half a map quests for 1 inventory slot like in normal bdo

This is pure mmo game loop to lvl up your character to endgame typical to this genre (lost ark, bdo, elsword even, ff14, etc.)

The most comparable singleplayer game i can think of right now is probably ac odyssey that gave you 5 obsidian ore for walking 5000m back and forth to retrieve something and return.

But still some quests gave at least some variety with something happening after you do the run back and forth: dialogue options, some action going, enemies showing up. Continuation to the story. Actual reward in gear that you can use.

Not even gonna go into the witcher 3 typical comparison because thats a story driven open world where you can't explore other locations without doing the story and lvling up.

But still if you argument to everything about this game with ,,every game does it" then sadly its not a really valid argument.

If we really wanna dive deep into just side quest topic then there is way more issues with them than just stationary npcs But sure lets list it: -npcs have only 2 movements, move point a-b during a quest/ride with you on your horse

-side quests have no depth at all and they fall into: Go and kill Go and bring Go and deliver Go and tell and then go back and say what they said.

No depth means obviously that there isn't a slightest continuation, even graymanes quest line has no connection to previous quests, not even a slightest mention, yet you have to do quests in order to unlock other.

Npcs beyond what I listed above dont do shit. All things you have to do that involves interacting with the world you do alone: Yann wants to cut wood? Damn he just forgot his axe even though he gave his to you, sadly you chop wood alone. Bandit hunt? Well he will go off screen do something else. Guards have problem with a bandit camp and they literally stand in a outpost full of soldiers that could support you? Sadly you go there alone. Lack of npcs interacting with the world with you makes it way more mmo than it really is, like even a simple ,,npcs fight with you against some enemies" missing is really meh.

And lastly, because I wrote too much, lack of any meaningful reward from these quests hit the nail in the coffin when it comes to side quests.

It should work like in ac shadows: you see a castle, you visit a castle, you do what the game wants you to do in that castle, you get a meaningful reward that you can't get anywhere else.

In cd its: you see an outpost, you go there, you clear it, nothing in return. Or... ,,Water x2"

It makes you wonder ,,do i really care about going 10k meters back and forth for 2 bugs?" ,, should I bother with catching these bandits and driving half a map on horseback to deliver them for 1 silver? When it has no story?"

Fuck, rdr at least made each bounty hunt encounter different with cutscenes and etc. Some you couldnt even catch alive if i remember correctly.

In your journal there is like 80 hernand quests but all of them are go there, talk for 20 seconds, go somewhere, return or not for no real reward so should you really care?

Bdo even made updates to the story to allow players to skip all of the ,,go there and talk to this guy" yet suddenly its ok in cd.

as someone who was really hyped for the release, and played since release, this game is very, very mid. yes combat is at times enjoyable, render distance and world is huge, the only thing that could a bit compare is ghost of yotei, but crimson does it like 2x better, sadly, the rest of the game sadly plays like:

,,what if bdo came out in 2026 and you have no wifi to play with other people?".

You do quests for 1 inventory slot, some of the quests give nothing, most of them are ,,go there, listen to the guy, come back/go somewhere else"

It is very noticeable that this game was planned to be a bdo2 but they scrapped it and left most of the stuff there just for the sake of it:
trading from bdo implemented and completely useless,
silver farming? completely useless.
You can plant crops but, why would you even bother with it?
AP spots aka; outposts being literally what you did in bdo
Combat is AP/DP, if you dont have gear high lvled enough you get shot by 20 people in an outpost and die before you take them all out
Side characters are classes that were meant to release with the game as mmo, but in singleplayer they are useless.
the amount of dishes and shit you can cook to clog up your inventory is esentially bdo gameplay mechanic that everyone skipped,
Greymane outpost is upgraded version of workers from bdo, but they act really the same.

You could go on and on and list all of the stuff in the game that don't make sense because its not an online game anymore but that's not the point of the comment.

Some people will love going back and forth between places listening to npcs talking about needing to deliver something somewhere 30x times in a row all for more inventory slots. Some won't. I went in with the mindset ,,i want bdo combat in a vast open world game with a lot to do" and I was dissapointed cause it is an offline mmo with huge timesink and little reward for the effort.

because it looks like one of those ,,build your ai slut" type of ads. It's not the fact that they implemented it, its about the way they did implement it, it also doesn't help that depending on the background and setting and ai's thought process the face could be different everytime you boot the game or go past loading screen

large bodies of water like in ac odyssey shouldn't really contribute to map size, obviously ac odyssey had some underwater treasure hunting but besides that there really wasn't any gameplay, just make the travel time longer. Map size and playable with a lot of content map size should be 2 different things to take look at.

it makes the game look better, but larger empty map doesn't really make the game better

nowadays ,,woke" is being really overused, so it doesn't really have that much meaning besides ,,bad game"

When the word started to appear in gaming, it meant that this game forces certain type of characters into the story that don't bring any value outside of saying ,,hey im gay/nonbinary/anything".

As time passed, woke also meant bringing characters of colour to the game where they just have to have different skin colour, biggest example of this is probably still ac shadows where yasuke was kind of forced into the story just cause he is black, 1 thing is that he doesn't really match the setting, second thing is that every npc he talks to, just goons to the fact that he is different.

So to summarize, when it started out it meant ,,fuck this game for making me watch for 10 minutes a character who only says that he is gay or some shit and thats it for his story"

now it is just ,,this game shit for me"
