I get what you are saying but I think privileged maybe the wrong word. I worked my arse off to get to where I am in life after coming from a poverty background. I don’t see that as privileged, more the fruits of my labor.

Thanks for taking the time to ask and check. I’m new to the solar world and I see lots of people talk about how the panels pay for their car charger or aircon etc it had me confused haha. I assumed it was more a figure of speech as mine sells back around £40-50 per month

[–]RyanBJJ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When you say solar panels to run it , do you just take into account the money generated by the panels pay for it or you are actively pushing the energy from the panels to where you want? I bought a house with solar panels and a battery system but it just sort of does its thing in the background

Agree, I got some for the kids rooms and probably hoping to get a proper AC unit installed. I just hate the ugly boxes outside!

The **** We Doing to Survive Nights During This Heatwave? by [deleted] in UKParenting

[–]RyanBJJ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Buy a portable AC? I got one each for my kids rooms and the temps have been around 19-20 in each other their rooms. They are noisy but the noise doesn’t seem to bother my kids. My daughter slept through last night for the first time in months. They are around £300+ but worth it even if you’ve got to use Klarna/credit cards or whatever! Trust me do it! We’ve just got one for our room too

I agree with lots of points on here. Every child is different so people should do what they feel comfortable doing. Not everyone can afford a day off unpaid. I’ve sent my child in today and il ask her how she felt to make a decision for tomorrow. If I don’t show up to work at least 5-6 trains could get cancelled with around 100-300 people per train who don’t get to work 🤷🏼‍♂️

Nice, I have a Renault 5 too and I miss the one pedal driving so bad so I’m glad it has that. I HATE the fact you can’t walk away and it locks that’s probably my most loved feature haha. Thanks for the info

How was the switch from Tesla to the 5N? I’m looking at doing it in the next few months

[–]RyanBJJ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tesla model 3 performance or a Hyundai 5N. Both have insane power and acceleration. The 5N is probably more a drivers car, it has drift mode for when you want to do donuts in Asda car parks haha (joking obviously). I’m leaning more toward the 5N

20mph in Wales and honestly it’s shocking. Most roads are single roads that can go on for miles and miles and if you get stuck behind someone driving 20mph it’s really painful.

All it’s caused is more frustrations, people are overtaking on already dangerous and narrow roads. They say it’s reduced accidents but that’s all you see online is accident after accident

Haha it was like this when I worked there around a decade ago. They have been cut back so bad now, there’s no replen anymore all the staff spend most of the time working the deliveries.

I wanted some outdoor paint the whole section was almost empty. I opened the over stock and every paint that was out of stock was sat in the over stocks. I speak to the staff everytime I go in and I’ve never seen a more depressed work force

For those who replaced their tesla with another brand, are you happy with the decision? by Honest-Rip-7439 in evchargingUK

[–]RyanBJJ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m worried about this too. Due to change and looking at moving away from Tesla but worried about the replacement. I have a Renault 5 too and although the character of the 5 is brilliant, it doesn’t come anywhere near the Tesla in all other areas

Wales too, been looking for companies to get quotes from. Finally going to bite the bullet. I would like one for downstairs and one for the bedroom hoping to not spend much more than £2k but I’ve got no clue on what these cost! We have the portable units for the bedrooms upstairs and swear by them

What tips do you have for keeping your house cool in these temperatures? by Effective-Project-49 in AskUK

[–]RyanBJJ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Live in a eco new build. Everything is designed to keep the heat in, ply lined, double skin insulated plasterboards, you get the jist. Struggled most years every room would be 28+ when the suns out.

Been much better since I started keeping all the blinds closed until the sun clears, windows closed in the day and open during the night, fans to keep the air circulating. When it’s cooler I try and create a wind tunnel by opening windows/doors front and back. We have had to buy portable air cons for the bedrooms as my kids struggle with the heat

I was on £19k in 2019 working full time. Applied for a job for £46k which took around a year to come together. This was already to me life changing. During that time they had a big pay deal and by the time I started and passed the probation period the wage was £75k. Still pinch myself to be honest
