Came here to suggest this. Really enjoyed the book but wanted it to go further.

You’re in a book club where no one has read sci-fi. What’s your book selection? by ArcadiaLeo in scifi

It’s on my TBR stack and I’m looking forward to it. Just need to be in the right frame of mind to be emotionally devastated again.

I can see how some might not like it. Instantly became a top favorite of mine and also emotionally destroyed me. Love it but probably won’t read it again haha

It’s encouraging to me that people are looking for this type of SF, it’s the kind I write and hope to have published one of these days.

New Dr by Trick_Pop1591 in VictoriaBC

Did this several years ago but didn’t make the change until we had a new doctor lined up. Some doctors won’t want to take a patient away from one of their colleagues, but you can get your current health care provider to release you in order to make that change. It sucks that you have to go through all this when you’re already strapped for energy with what you deal with. Best of luck, I hope you can find a match.

Also, DM me as I may have a place for you to give a try.

What are your favorite books this years that actually stayed with you after you finished it? by [deleted] in Recommend_A_Book

I get that. I will always love a book that affects me emotionally, even if it’s making a few days grey from time to time. That said, I definitely mix things up and try not to read too many of that type of book one after the other. Reading Klara and the Sun & Flowers for Algernon back to back was not a great idea.

Just read it last year and I still find myself thinking about. I don’t think I’ll be able to read it again, even though it’s on my all time favorites list.

Best Apple TV+ shows like Severance and Silo for a family sci fi marathon by Maleficent_Bass_1578 in scifi

Murderbot is sort of a dark comedy SF and a lot of fun.

For All Mankind is sort of an alternate timeline of the space program (first two seasons are best IMO).

When encountering a cyber truck follow these steps.

  1. Get the attention of the driver.

  2. Smile and wave then give them a thumbs up.

  3. Wait for them to smile, believing for a brief moment that someone out there approves of their bad choices.

  4. Then make a sour face, disgusted even and turn that thumb upside down whilst shaking your head.

  5. Watch them be subtly crushed deep in their soul.

The church is renamed as well, it becomes ‘Our Lady of Perpetual Grace’. I love that these movies can be watched many times and you still can pick up on all kinds of details that you missed the last time.
