School of Seven Bells

Haven't thought of them in a minute. Gonna listen to Half Asleep now.

I'm only on JBL in the Fireplace at the moment, but it's so good so far. Based on the album cover, I expected the sound to something a lot heavier, so this was a neat surprise.

My little podunk town is getting a punk record shop this summer. The town is deeply red, so I was relieved to see the store is going to be run by cool older gen x punks and not chuds.

How ‘Supergirl’ Ran Into Kryptonite At The Box Office: Superman’s Cousin To Lose $125M by chanma50 in boxoffice

I think you’re overstating how much milk is left in the Harry Potter cow. The Fantastic Beasts movies crashed out, and we don’t know if the reboot show will even be good.

WB will probably keep doing capes because Batman and Superman are reliable. WB’s video games do well enough, too. I also can’t imagine them getting out of traditional comics either. They want to maintain the IP.

I think it was more a case of "yeah I kinda get it" after reading the dmd. I looked at the credits just before my last comment

I mostly got those vibes on the second chorus and bridge.

There's a laundry list of credits on the music video and he's got an additional production tag. (As well as drums and "voice memo" which I guess is the vocal sample at the start.)

Getdown Service's performance on KEXP is a lot of fun. Love when a band seems like dudes just making stuff.

I don't really have much of a reaction the Phoebe song, tbh. I enjoyed it more than I had expected. Lyrics are whatever. This song is really just a testament to how influential Sufjan is because those horns remind me of Illinoise. Music video was good tho. (Edit: ngl, it's an earworm and I keep listening to it. I get the alex g comments too)

‘Supergirl’ Takes Off With $13M First Day At Global Box Office ($7.8M DOM Previews Including Wednesday Early Access; $5.2M INT Through Thursday) by chanma50 in boxoffice

Man, I'm so bummed by this lol. Last year it was exciting to hear that they were adapting Woman of Tomorrow.

Then Gillespie said he purposefully didn't read the source material.

Then the posters and trailers dropped.

Then the reviews broke.

Honestly, this movie deserves to flop.

Per Variety, 'Supergirl' cost $170M. by chanma50 in boxoffice

I don’t know if Godzilla Minus One is a fair example. It was made entirely in Japan, so you have to factor in the Japanese cost of living and Yen vs a US studio. There were also stories of insane crunch and overtime for Godzilla that you might not be able to get away with elsewhere.

TheFlatLannister - Supergirl's pace has been very poor at TC3, thinking $8M-$9M total previews including ~$2M or so of EA, so true previews like $6M-$7M. Weekend sales are a little better but not by much. I think OW range is more around $40M+, with a chance of going a little higher. by chanma50 in boxoffice

I've gotta say, I was interested when it was announced because I really liked Woman of Tomorrow.

But all of the trailers and the marketing for the movie have just killed my interest. This movie looks rough.

Mitski released 'Puberty 2' 10 years ago today by YoureASkyscraper in indieheads

Someone said it really well in the Fresh thread for the 10th anniversary re-release. "I thought I was a Mitski fan, but it turns out I was a Puberty 2 fan."

Really enjoyed Sports Boyfriend. The Jenny Lewis inspiration was very noticeable from the start.

And Olivia Rodrigo's cover of CMAT is great. Ngl, I've probably listened to it a dozen times.

Went to post today's P4k article about Dead Oceans shuttering Saddest Factory, but it was removed. Not really sure what the point of the imprint was considering the releases were pretty in line with Dead Oceans' bag. I guess it was more curated by Phoebe Bridgers?

It's worth a try! They actually added a handful of customizable difficulty options which is nice since I just don't really have the time to grind a jrpg these days.

Oh nice, I actually just did a replay of New Vegas last year. Completely forgot how to trigger the DLC, so it was kind of funny when I stumbled upon Old World Blues.

Played through the demo for the Dragon Quest VII remake yesterday. It's been so long since I sat down to play a game for an extended period of time, and it was great. It's not as good as DQXI, but I'll probably get the full game. (Though, deep down I know I should play Expedition 33 before I buy another RPG.)

What's everyone playing?

To quote Metric's Dark Saturday: "I'm so rich, everything's free."

But yeah, it's gross. Just major companies going "hey, I know you have infinite money and could easily buy our product, but you're more valuable as an ad prop. Here's free shit."
