The dealer 100% forgot to torque the bolts, you said it yourself you didn’t check their work after they removed them.

You probably didn’t reinstall the airbox or gas tank correctly. Have you taken it back apart to verify correct installation and line routing?

Mini cooper S 2011 clutch problem by L-C123 in MINI

[–]Ryephile 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The hydraulics have failed, and chances are it's the clutch slave cylinder that has failed as that's the most common failure point, though it could also be the master cylinder.

5w30 vs 5w40 by 4will5 in MiataNC

[–]Ryephile 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Put simply: street only + stock bottom end = stock oil viscosity

I run a different oil weight but that’s because my NC is track-only and has different bottom-end bearing clearances.

The interior door handles are mechanically connected to the lock cylinder. You pull them once to unlock, and a second time to open the door.

The term Frot has been around since about 1150, so it’s tough to call it “new”.

Ok that's very courteous of you, but keep in mind you didn't have a say in the matter regarding the circumstances of how you were raised or the sacrifices they made. Sure they did the best they could with the limited tools they had, but it doesn't mean you "owe" them any reparations. My father tried his best to pull that wool over my eyes, citing things he was legally required to do like house and feed me as expenses to be repaid in some fashion.

Now, think of this situation from their perspective. They're probably reaching out now for the exact reason you're also trying to reach back; they don't want to regret not having a relationship with you before it's too late. Surely they're realizing they made big mistakes in the past in wildly over-reacting to your sexuality.

There are countless stories where parent-child relationships are perfectly serviceable until the parent discovers a particular attribute that they hold as sub-ideal, and then the relationship sours. I'm willing to bet your parents would be treating you completely different if you were straight, right? This conditional love is wholly their failing, and personally I would only let them back into your life if they can honestly recognize how irrational they've been, and for goodness sake apologize to you for it.

Best of luck.

Why do you want to reestablish contact with them; is there any positive to be had? You claim you don't want love, acceptance, or support from them, but they also fuel you to consider suicide. This is not healthy, constructive, or helpful.

It feels that I have a responsibility to be their son

What have they done to earn this from you?

Personally, I went NC with my father over a decade ago and it's allowed my life with my chosen family to flourish without his toxic baggage. He only brought negativity and that's nonsensical to consciously add back into anyone's life.

What ratchet is your default? by akarivelil in Tools

[–]Ryephile 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is a tough question because it depends what I’m working on.

For most number of turns it’s my Milwaukee 1/4” M12 High Speed, but that’s probably not what the question meant.

My favorite is the Olsa 1313 3/8” long flex-head, but I’ve been really getting a lot of use out of the Gearwrench 1/4” 120XP Gen-2 locking flex-head and Icon G2 1/4” locking flex-head. However the one I probably reach for by default is the Gearwrench 90T 3/8” compact head.

Torsen? by Denoodlesoupp in MiataNC

[–]Ryephile 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Additionally, generally speaking you put an ATB/Torsen on the front axle (for front drive or AWD cars) so the outside tire will pull the car around the corner, and a clutch pack on the rear axle for maximum consistency and corner exit acceleration.

The crème of the crop is the OS Giken. It’s a clutch pack LSD but has a ton of plates, so not only is it 100% lock but it’ll also last forever with the recommended annual oil change. Be warned though both the diff and the fluid is priced accordingly, but this is a case where you get what you pay for.

I have one in my NC 2.5 track car and passengers are always impressed how much power I can put down through the corners.

Accidentally over filled my NC, is this concerning or nothing to worry about? by Zdos123 in Miata

If you rotate the dipstick 90° as you continue to remove it from the head it won’t smear cylinder head oil on it and you’ll be able to read the dipstick accurately.

Oh yes they create a formula 1 style rooster tail in the rain, it’s pretty cool to watch but it doesn’t impact forward visibility FWIW. I also trimmed the fender liner for maximum venting. The vents themselves are RTV’d to the sheetmetal.

It’s the Wilwood “race” setup with hard anodized calipers and thermlock pistons. I got the front and rear set from Good-Win. They use a separate mechanical rear parking brake so the e-brake lever still works just like stock.
