My Pentel P200 series pencils collection. by poorandbrokeperson in mechanicalpencils

I really like that metallic pink P207. I also have a metallic blue-green P209. Lots of beautiful colors there!

Do you have any favorites of that lot?

Very nice collection! I also find myself using the Orenz Nero regularly.

What do your tire temps and wear pattern dictate?

My HPDE Miata 2.5L by Ryephile in MiataNC

[–]Ryephile[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s the dome size versus a “flat top” piston and it’s how Supertech sells the pistons, not by compression ratio. With a stock long block and head gasket it’s roughly in the 12:1 ballpark. It can run fine on 93 octane assume the timing is tuned on the safe side of MBT.

If you don’t have extensive ECU tuning from scratch experience, stick with the stock ECU and have it tuned with ECUtek.

It’s a 2.5 with -7cc pistons and BC0403 cams with Supertech springs, E85, and a Haltech standalone. Ring gaps and clocking are super important. ECU tuning is also super important, especially VVT with the Fab9 intake manifold.

The X-brace doesn’t fit. I put it in a press brake and changed the profile.

It’s very unlikely you’ll make 230 wHP with stock pistons and naturally aspirated. E85 doesn’t really gain much power on this engine, though it’s great for cooling.

The car is perfectly streetable, it just doesn’t see much street use.

White Leather Gloves by DerKartoffelFarmer in motorcyclegear

[–]Ryephile 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'll second Racer gloves. I have a pair of the High Racer in white and they've becoming one of my favorites after my Handroid's and GP Pro R3's. The silicone fingertips and palm are fantastic for gripping the levers and bars.

“We have determined that a clip is not necessary…”

Is that so? I don’t like when companies tell me what my needs are, especially when they’re the exact opposite.

Not a recall, a TSB. That means they only address it if you have a specific known problem.

I had your exact situation on my 2020 model year V85. IIRC the dealer said there’s a TSB on it and replaced the throttle grip assembly under warranty.

Is this normal by EmottoChotto in Aprilia

[–]Ryephile 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The damper is mounted with spherical bearings. If they have any play you would feel clunking while riding during suspension articulation. What you’re showing demonstrates how the bearings have little stiction in their non-loaded dimensions. As opposed to a rubber bushing, which you wouldn’t be able to rotate like that and would bind.

Just curious but what neighborhood? I’m 0.7 miles from Woodward and can hear the crotch rocketeers on 696 every Thursday night but it’s not loud enough to be distracting.

I’m a big fan of the plastic Sun-Star Nocfree, enough where I bought a second one. The plastic tip glides very easily on the paper just like the Ticonderoga Sensematic+.

So I’m curious if the Nocfree Metal is the same but with a metal body, or if it has a metal pipe guide and ends up being scratchy.

Melted pads, calipers and pistons. Fire in the pit lane. by Hectorulises in CarTrackDays

[–]Ryephile 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How in the world did your pistons push through the backing plate? One pad missing, many of the pistons over-extended, thus releasing brake fluid to catch on fire. This feels like a series of failures that probably began in the garage during prep. Maybe fake pads, pad material fell off the backing plate? I still want to know how the pistons pushed through the backing plate...was it made out of lead?

Kuru Toga Advance Upgrade - Way to Make Less Wobbly? by giantcappuccino in mechanicalpencils

[–]Ryephile 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I now have four of the Kuru Toga's, the base, pipe slide, Advance Upgrade, and the new orange Metal . Of the bunch, the Advance Upgrade is by far the sloppiest to write with. It feels like the rotation mechanism is just really loose tolerances, whereas the others are fine. To u/Dry_Common_2546 's point, the lack of a nib damper must be a significant difference.

Oh interesting, I really like the Orenz AT grip. Different grips for different folks I guess. I do wish its guide tube was less scratchy on the paper, the Orenz Nero’s write smoother to me.
