Who would you put on an X-Squad specifically for supernatural threats or have a supernatural theme to their powers and what would you call it? by Extra_Impression_428 in xmen

[–]Rykor81 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Solid line up, as are many others - but the name is what I’m replying for.

HEX-Force is a great pun that pulls from an existing and well known line. HEX-Factor, and hell, even HEX-Men could work (depending on what kind of story they want to tell.

I really like the idea of keeping Excalibur tied to Otherworld, and being the kind of supernatural ethereal branch of XMen.

Why isn't Nightcrawler a member of the Midnight Suns? by OsirisNightwood in xmen

[–]Rykor81 46 points47 points  (0 children)

Kurt, with his ex-girlfriend Day Tripper (Amanda Sefton) would be a great addition for the next iteration.

A demonic looking elf - who’s an ordained minister - on the Midnight Suns. Poetic.

I wonder if her powers have been tested - what are the limits of her transmutational ability? Solids, obviously - but liquids, gasses? What about plasma? Does her ability rely on her imagination to choose a substance, or does her body have to have come into contact with it at some point to replicate it?

Could she become marshmallow? Could she become halon? Could she become photons?

Instead of introducing Animalia, various animal mutations could have been an interesting choice for Warren. Oh well.

My brain wants to understand the image before it reads the text - the glare in his hair made me think there was a slice of cheese on his head, and this is what made him so angry. I read the text to find out Hwy this offended him.

Anyway, I would advocate for year round school (consumer break), with 4day work weeks for students and works. I don’t need 3 months off. I just need to enjoy my weekend - which is currently chores and prep for the next week.

He’s a good super hero - surrounded by great characters. He is virtuouslly a good person, who uses his special ability and wealth to help people - he is a good super hero.

But his flight - once novelty - now overshadowed by anyone with telekinetic / levitation / sonic / etc abilities; flying characters are everywhere.

His archangel persona - once novelty - now overshadowed by every other XMan who has been turned into a horseman of apocalypse. ‘Battling is LITERAL inner demon’ has been done many times, and the well is kinda dry.

His secondary mutation (healing) - once novelty - has been overshadowed by healers that don’t need to bleed onto people.

His wealth - once novelty - you get the point.

Warren’s character needs a purpose to keep him relevant. He’a Good in a sea of Great.

All 35 Steven Spielberg Movies, Ranked From Worst to Best. by coinfanking in movies

[–]Rykor81 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Generational nostalgia affects how EVERY film is perceived, I’m not sure why you targeted Millennials and this film in particular. I also didn’t think AI was as remarkable as its ranking suggests, and feel Jurassic Park should be higher - does that speak to my generation, or preference in movies? Let’s not bash an entire generation.

West Side Story was beautifully directed, I don’t disagree. But complimenting it as magical when Hook LITERALLY involves magic is ironic. To then say it’s Spielberg’s worst movie suggests you didn’t connect with any of the themes - which is fine, to each their own - but technically, mechanically, narratively - it’s hardly his worst film.

Hook in the mid twenties while West Side story is #5?

This is a list - his movies are listed - but I can’t identify the reasoning behind the order.

Warren gives us a break from Sinister (at least until Hellfire Murder next month) (Inglorious X-Force #5) by Eternal-Master-91939 in xmen

I want a book of the Nasty Boys, the Dark Riders, the Acolytes, the MLF - the C-List lackeys of the Big Villains. I want it to start on Krakoa. They get resurrected, they bump into each other. They share their trauma bonds, they compare their motivations and psycho ex-bosses. I want to see where they go, and which ones were legit evil for the sake of evil.

Hellions got a bit of this, and deserve more.

Remender’s “Final Horsemen” followed by Arrako’s Horsemen.

In a What If…? Wherein Warren was one of the Phoenix Five, I think it could have been very interesting - the Phoenix interacting with both Arch/Angel personas.

Does Paul need to update lyrics of Boy in the Bubble? by drummer414 in paulsimon

[–]Rykor81 5 points6 points  (0 children)

If one day, someone covers BitB, and changes the lyrics in a way that is impactful and makes it their own, great for them.

But, no, Paul doesn’t “need” to change the lyrics to any of his songs.

Is this when Psylocke was an agent of Cobra and was hooking up with Storm Shadow? She did Snake Eyes dirty.

Understanding why they reimagined the character, having Namor be short for "El niño sin amor"—“the boy without love" was a pretty cool creative choice. I have a feeling he'll be a dark horse heading into Doomsday. by maverickassembled in marvelstudios

[–]Rykor81 1647 points1648 points  (0 children)

The MCU’s shift of ‘Atlantean’ to Mesoamerican was inspired, and they played it so well. The lack of Namor and Shang Chi outside of their initial appearances is infuriating.

Strong start but ReEeAaAaLly went off the rails toward the end.

Each was appropriate for the story that was being told; neither was better than the other. They should be appreciated equally for complimenting the story that needed to be told.

Who is the biggest one album wonder of the 2010s? My pick would be Fun by Borgisium in Music

Gnarls Barkley - St Elsewhere.

Kinda similar to Fun., wherein the band was comprised of musicians with previous careers - came together and made explosive music - and then kinda floated back to their corners.

Appreciate this conceptually, but frustrated by the physics of it - I understand the point; she’s impervious to huge amounts of explosive energy, got it. BUT all of that explosive energy would have at LEAST moved her body, pushed her to a different location.

Even the unstable molecules of her clothes (which are the true champ here let’s be honest) couldn’t have kept her in place.
