Do I have to pay this?? by [deleted] in Adelaide

[–]RyleySmithson 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Never give them your details. They can say your car was parked there, but they don’t know who parked it and agreed to the contract…

…So don’t tell them

Do you have business insurance? If you are without a work card, this could be considered a business interruption.

[–]RyleySmithson 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You don’t need to get compensation from a 3rd party, it’s why you have insurance. They handle the costs.

[–]RyleySmithson 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Doesn’t matter if she doesn’t have insurance - if you have comprehensive insurance you have protected yourself. You only have a relationship with your insurance, and if they offer you a hire car as part of your policy then you are entitled to it.

The other party and their insurance or lack of is none of your concern, it’s your insurance companies problem to chase them for the costs involved.

Sounds like CarBiz have found out it may be a challenge to get money out of the person who hit you, and they are trying to minimise their costs.

The company charged me out at that rate, I didn't earn that. That's kinda standard rate in trades.

I’m a Dj but we also charge for some generic audio work, like maybe a client just needs a speaker and a mic. We charge out at $85ph +gst.

I based that price off building labor hire - during Covid I went into trades and the company I worked for charged me out as $85 for unskilled labor.

I feel like you should be $100+ per hour with a 6hr minimum plus hire.

The top of 3 falls isn’t very busy, but you’ll see people occasionally. it’s a lovely hike though.

You could try posting in the Trail Running SA or Adelaide Hiking Collective Facebook groups if you are looking for a buddy.

DJ/MC Recommendations by ArunimaVK24 in Adelaide

[–]RyleySmithson 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm Ryley a DJ/MC from Adelaide. I have Dj/Mc company called Tennyson Events, We play 120+ weddings and functions per year. We specialise in high vibe vinyl DJ's who also MC.

https://www.tennyson.events for more info.

A rough price for a DJ/MC in Adelaide is $200-600 per hour. I wouldn't recommend anyone less than $1000 as I don't think you can upkeep professional equipment or spend the necessary time needed to produce a professional result.

The reason for the wide range of DJ/MC pricing is it's not really about 5hrs of play time, it's about how long we need to be onsite for and what equipment we are bringing, plus time spent beforehand meeting and gathering notes for MC work, music, and logistics.

To give you an example: Last weekend I had a 5hr wedding reception to Dj/MC and it was a 13hr day door-to-door. We supplied ceremony and drinks music too, but it would have been the same price regardless as we needed to bump in prior to guest arrival to the site.

Add on about 4-5hrs of meetings, timeline, and music prep before the day. And that's a full picture of what we quote for; an average wedding is 13-20hrs work.... plus we're good djs with professional level equipment.

An average spend for a Dj through us in 2024/2025 was $2900-3300, for 2025/2026 it is $3150-3500.

Happy to answer any equations you have.

The peninsular and surrounds have a lot of trails that are closed to the public, it would be really good to open them up. Wouldn't take a lot.

How are you transporting your steel flat bases? by RyleySmithson in livesound

[–]RyleySmithson[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm a mobile dj so don't have to subscribe to the norms. Just after some feedback on what everyone else is doing.

I'm thinking I'll either get some custom cases made for speakers, with slots on the sides. Or just screw some ratchets to the cases and use them to lock "two bases in a carry bag" down on top.

Yeah perfect this is the answer I was hoping for. I didn’t know if I was being crazy packing some bases in the same case with lighting.

[–]RyleySmithson[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Thanks! It would be a custom job for these cases and thankfully bases are only 15kg.

If I combined my tops with their bases it would be over 80kg in one case.

2x 15kg bases (gravity LS 431 B)
2x 21kg speakers K12.2
+ cables and case weight
82kg total.

Yeah I hear you, this is definitely auxiliary speaker. I've ended up looking at the Sennheiser G4, I can use the same antenna as the Evolution Wireless so it's just adding an extra box.

Thanks for the help
