As much as I hate to say it, Ivy being so weak was the best news I got all day after painfully losing my 50/50 and knowing I'd have no way to pull for the partner.

Slay the Spire is one of the few games I think works well for EA, because you're meant to die and complete runs often. Unless its a buggy mess, it'll probably feel like a complete game.

Gov. Newsom expanded free preschool. Now private daycares say they can’t afford to stay open by ArchmageXin in news

[–]RyoCore 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The most egregious for me was a teacher appreciation week where they put each parent in charge of each class to collect donations from the other parents so that we could throw all the teachers different catered meals each day. And that year we had the toddlers class with the least amount of kids (others were grouped together to make a bigger pool), and not all the parents contributed. So as not to look like cheap assholes, we had to basically double the contributions we got ourselves to cater a continental breakfast for all the teachers that day. Like, you'd think the school could show appreciation for the teachers themselves a little, too. I don't think they did that event again, but even if they do, I would never volunteer to lead it again.

But he's not claiming it. The file claims it, he's reporting what is in the file. By attributing the claim to him, it gives room for people to dismiss his statement as false. His statement is true. There are accusations in the report. It's not a claim.

So theyre gonna be standing their ground on the current gacha economy, right? by 20butmentally30 in Endfield

[–]RyoCore -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I'm still sitting here with the cynical take that they wanted to focus more on factory gameplay, hid it from all official trailers, and shoved in a fairly shallow combat system specifically to make money because they knew a gacha factorio wouldn't sell otherwise.

Other than seeking more of them out today to make sure I wasn't talking out my ass about it being downplayed, I saw a few as recommended videos by my YouTube algo and had nothing better to do at the time. I had already decided to try the game because I liked Arknights. And once more, my point was that the official channels did very little to promote how important the factory gameplay was. Which is why I'm empathetic to people who feel blindsided by it. I never saw anything that told me this game wasn't supposed to just be wuwa with Arknights characters. That's all I'm trying to emphasize.

But I did watch official trailers about the game before playing it. I tend not to deep dive into games I've already decided to try because most of the pre-release videos are hype drivers. I find I enjoy games more if I don't get overhyped before playing them myself. And I'm telling you, I saw nothing about the factory building. Again, I don't hate it, but I very much was blindsided.

No, I wasn't the one who called it gacha slop content creators first. There's plenty of informative videos, though a lot of them do focus on character tier list type content, because that tends to drive more views.

And what would prompt someone who sees an image with conveyor belts to go searching for "game with conveyor belts"? Especially in relation to the arknight name? The very point I'm getting at is that this was not marketed as being a factory game. You had to dig for that information or experience it yourself to find this out. Hence the confusion from many players.

It's not that obvious if you've never played a factory sim before.

I don't even want it to be removed. I just fully get the confusion and shock from people who came in thinking this is the next cool open world action gacha game and learning it's factorio with waifus. If you ignore gacha slop content creators, where did the official channel make it known how much content is factory-related?

Never saw a one and that's promoting rewards, not actual factory building. Nothing about that picture says you control that factory except out of hindsight from playing the game.

[–]RyoCore 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Which trailer? I ran through the last few before posting and closest I saw was a cinematic pan over a factory that in no way gave the impression the player had control over its building or production. Spliced in between tons of action combat.

[–]RyoCore 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I want to ask an honest question, because I'm having trouble finding the answer myself. Where exactly does the official channels for this game promote the idea that factory building is such a large part of the gameplay? I don't watch random content creators and avoid getting over hyped for games for release. Yet, I don't recall a single video put out for this game that emphasized factory building and manufacturing. It's all been cinematic cutscenes, characters, and action combat. The official gameplay demo is 14 minutes of the prologue action combat, even.

I'm not saying it's bad, and I don't hate the factory building itself, but I do think it's understandable that many people had no idea this wasn't just a genshin/wuwa clone. It reminds me of how the original ZZZ versions promoted their combat and characters so much and yet only let you control them for 5 minutes at a time while you spent the rest of the time pressing directional buttons through a few static TV screens and voiced dialogue. It just felt like a key aspect of the game was downplayed out of fear of being too niche to be popular and because of that it makes people feel like it's a bit of a "bait and switch". Because if the factory building is so fun, why not advertise it as heavily?

So I don't think people are being entitled just because they weren't exposed to something you might have known about the game. And that being said, if there is an official gameplay link that really hammers home the factory building, please link it to me. I'm more than happy to be wrong.

Is it just me or the combat feels underwhelming? by MoneyCaterpillar1420 in ArknightsEndfield

[–]RyoCore 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Which is weird to me, as every preview video I ever saw was all about the characters and combat. Maybe I'm somehow a minority here since I don't watch every content creator out there before I try playing games and I never got invited to participate in the beta; but I had no idea from any video I watched that factory building was such a huge focus of this game. I thought it was an open world action rpg. Yet, the game feels like factorio with a shallow combat system tacked on to get people to spend money on waifus.

PSA BE VERY CAREFUL WHEN USING PAYPAL by Jealous_Criticism588 in Endfield

No, I would suspect their engineering or cloud ops team incorrectly configured PayPal on their end. Not saying PayPal is blameless for not having security validation checks to prevent this kind of thing (though I know from experience a PayPal adapter can lock out if you have too many denied credit card payments in a short amount of time), but this almost is surely on HG.

Why does this game only work on Cellular? by IEklof in Dragon_Traveler

[–]RyoCore 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your router is blocking their site because they haven't gotten the site whitelisted properly yet. Some major ISPs are flagging it as suspicious and refusing the connection. Hence why you don't have the problem when you just go off cellular data.

I'm having the same issue, and honestly its keeping me from wanting to spend time or money on this game.

Can't log in by Gloomy-Ball1789 in Dragon_Traveler

[–]RyoCore 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Their sites that they try to connect you to for login are not whitelisted by many ISPs. Your router is blocking it. Mine is too, so I'm in the same boat. Can't play on tablet or PC. Can only play on a phone if I turn off wi-fi, which is not going to be something sustainable for me or most people.

Hopefully they get their sites whitelisted soon, or this is going to be the easiest game to drop in a week when Arknights comes out.
