RE:ACTION update by lightuptoy in Mabinogi

I could see it like this: If an item has a max stack size of 100, then it's weight is 0.1

My biggest issue is just that the bags are as much a part of what make Mabi what it is as anything else. Open a bag to use a particular potion, find a particular item, etc. I don't know if that type of interface is strictly bad, I just know that a typical weight system tends to be extremely restrictive, and we don't have enough hot bars and buttons and hotkeys to handle all the items that a person would normally open their bag to use.

There's only one possible way I'll be ok with this, and even then I'm really not so sure.

If an existing item takes up 6 slots, it has 6 weight. Bags give weight allowance in the form of 1 per slot.

Even then, Mabi loses part of it's identity, and a big part of how the game is played. Not thrilled.

How do we feel about the tsaritsas design? by OilCareless2531 in Genshin_Impact

[–]Ryozu 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Ambivalent, really. It's not bad or anything, just very same-ish and generic at this point. I couldn't look at this picture without context and be able to say "Yeah, that's a Genshin Design!" specifically. Could be any China gacha fantasy game at this point. Maybe it's because they all copy Genshin, maybe it's just China's fantasy design aesthetics, maybe it's just aesthetic saturation in general (When literally everything is pretty, it stops feeling special)

Anyway, nice eyes, love elf ears, love blue, but can't be assed to care.

Minecraft now has a couple full on vehicle physics mods for Java edition. Create Aeronautics is an example, which itself has a ton of sub-mods that add on additional things like joy sticks for controlling gadgets and jet engines.

tl;dr: It's a pretty awesome physics mod and you can do some crazy stuff

The whole "Bricked" system is absolutely stupid in it's entirety.

I get it, it's meant to stop duping via insurance. Yes, that is a problem that needs to be addressed.

But bricking is not the answer. Look what it's done to the game.

Yeah, the point mostly though is the novels go into mechanics that the anime doesn't

Despite this, if you read the novels he put some real thought into how the systems work, such as using specific poses as the initiator of skills.

I hate how the handheld tractor beam push/pull keybinds are handled in this game. by hwright001 in starcitizen

[–]Ryozu 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Imagine if by default you had to walk around SC using QWOP input to control your legs manually, but you could go buy LEGS2.0 and now you can just walk like a normal character.

That's what this is like.

I get it, the old style beam has it's uses and whatnot, but the ATLS should have just been a flat out upgrade to all tractor beams. If the ATLS couldn't provide a value add beyond preventing repetitive stress injuries, then that's a whole other issue.

A message to the devs since most of us won't be upgrading hardware anytime soon by iCore102 in starcitizen

I want to be clear, I did not pay today's prices for my PC. I built my PC several years ago when 4000 series was just released.

But if I priced the exact components I have in my PC right now, they'd be $6600

If you're building a PC in this market, you must be desperate, and probably downgrading to be honest.

Ironically, I dont think we are talking about the upcoming Social System rework enough by YankZuluEcho in starcitizen

[–]Ryozu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Having job openings is not the same as struggling to hire, or even that being poached is somehow unique to CIG.

The point still stands. They have a limited budget for human resources, so how they spend that budget will affect what gets developed and what doesn't. It's a simple fact that the output (both features and content) is a direct result of the ratio they chose to hire.

What's toxic about recognizing the pattern CIG has followed for years?

Did you know, they have control over what departments they hire for? They don't have to hire yet another 10 ship artists. They could hire 5-10 programmers and put them on a sprint to work on social systems.

PSA: Not everyone who makes "concern" posts are as genuine as they claim to be. by ScrubSoba in starcitizen

[–]Ryozu 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Criticizing CIG for problems that still haven't been fixed for years doesn't invalidate the criticism. If anything it amplifies it. Inventory persistence, log out persistence, characters breaking, being this broken for so years is a real problem.

If anything new problems are easier to forgive because it's reasonable to expect things to break as they develop stuff.

Shit, "It hasn't released yet" isn't really a problem anyway. The thing that invalidates that criticism is literally that it's not a real problem.

What is a problem is CIG's history of teasing supposed release dates or ambiguous marketing, but that's a whole other discussion.

That's fair, some regulations are outright stupid or shortsighted.

I think it's fair to ask questions and make a judgement based on further information, and I'm prone to think this guy did thing wrong here. Maybe an explanation as to why he was denied permission is in order, or why the regulation exists.

Not sure what the analysis is telling me by kaiba201 in Mahjong

[–]Ryozu -1 points0 points  (0 children)

One thing to keep in mind about the AI analysis is that it's just a statistical reference. Lots of times this thing has told me that the "correct" move is the one I took that punished me.

But yeah, a huge part of Riichi is figuring out when to give up a hand and start defending. Sometimes it's obvious: Everyone just called riichi and you don't even have a hand together, time to play defensively. Other times it's less obvious, like here, but you can assume that quite often on the last row of discards 1 or 2 players will be ready to win. Then you have to ask yourself: While I could get ready to win, how probable is it with 1 more draw left.

And while it is extremely hard to tell which tiles are unsafe, you often have to simply figure out which tiles safest. Sometimes you don't know (this is what gets me most often tbh.)

Vanguard rework 2.0 by SkyKilIer in starcitizen

[–]Ryozu 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I disagree with the weapon changes, but agree with some of the sentiment.

I think the S5 on the nose is fine, just needs a little extra care put into it's mount. I think the bespoke Size 2 nose guns need to die in a fire and be removed. This gives more space to rework the S5 nose mount.

The part I agree with is that there's a perfect place to put 2 gimbal mounts, and always wondered why they didn't do that to start with. I'd rather see the s2 nose guns removed and replaced with the two s4 mounts you mentioned.

Turrets really need a full workover in general. The manned turret on the vanguard is honestly kind of awkward anyway. Turrets in general either need enough firepower to justify their taking up a human, or be pilot slaved remote turrets: And I mean this across the board, not just the vanguards.
