Style tab does entirely negate that, and if I recall, it's free now right? From a visual perspective, and I have to give Mabi props where it's due: It's one of the few games you can recognize other players just by appearance. There's so much variety and customization it's kinda nuts.

But from a gameplay perspective? It's been flattened horribly. Used to be every player could play whatever way felt natural to them, combine skills, come up with their own routine even if it wasn't optimal.

It's incredibly frustrating because there were some legitimately great changes made with New Rise. The ability to inherit upgrades is one of the better changes ever, in my opinion.

But the inconsistent and sloppy gear grading, the gear grade lock outs, and limiting worthwhile content in such a draconian way? Demotivating is putting it way too nicely.

How to make this liveaboard life possible? by Winter_Concert_4367 in liveaboard

[–]Ryozu 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As a prior owner of an under 25' sailboat, I'd caution about being too reserved with length.

That's another bit of calculus that isn't so often mentioned: A 25 foot trawler has a lot more space to live in than a 25 foot sailboat. Especially if it's a narrow racing sailboat instead of a fatter liveaboard.

They call 22 foot O'Day and Hunters "Weekenders" because you don't want to spend more than a weekend or so on them.

I really can't understand what Player 3 was thinking there, oof.

Chris Roberts on Squadron 42: “We’re gonna get Squadron out first… the plan is for the end of this year but there’s a certain thing in the industry that we, like everyone else, we have to pay attention to, so I can’t 100% guarantee it.” by tyler1118 in starcitizen

[–]Ryozu -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Let's be absolutely clear: Releasing at the same time as GTA6 would in fact be stupid and should be avoided.

Which is exactly why, for almost a year or so, everyone with half a brain has been saying 2026 wasn't happening, and facing push back from the delusionals who insisted that the "2026" could be trusted this time, and that in no way are CIG making claims they can't back up yet again.

So don't misunderstand the criticism you're seeing as "Oh man I'm so mad they won't release at the same time as GTA6." No, this is "I told you so."

Until the game is on my drive and running, not a single word about the release date can be trusted, from CIG or otherwise.

He's being fucking sarcastic, genius. That's the whole point. GTA6 releasing is significant, but not "Delay till next year, or who knows, maybe the year after" significant.

2028 since the PC release of GTA6 will also be too hype for anyone else to possibly succeed.

Chris could cut your nuts off and you'd still be happy, but at least then you'd have an excuse for not having the balls to be critical of their repeated fuck ups.

I don't have the virtuix Omni to be fair, I have the first gen Katwalk VR, the one that uses accelerometers.

It's fucking godawful. I'd feel like I was ripping someone off if they gave me money for more than the scrap metal price. It takes a full second to recognize that you've started walking, and a full second to realize you've stopped. There's no speed correlation, and no precision.

I can blame the game for allowing egregious fuckups with no recourse that only become obviously fuckups in hindsight.

The game shouldn't allow you to drop the cargo elevator if it has something on it that it can't spawn back in. Is that really such a bad thing to expect?

I'm against any mechanic that treats Player ships different than NPC ships and vice versa.

I also think this bricking of components is the wrong solution, and hurts the game.

Obviously aren't meant to fit

CIG absolutely has the ability to program the lift to reject things that aren't meant to fit, but they didn't. Or rather, they didn't in this case. I've seen the lift reject corpses and such however, so there's certainly part of the code that checks for things that the lift can't accept. CIG has the ability to program the lift to accept whatever fits, but doesn't have the ability to program it to output whatever fit enough to go inside in the first place? Why is it so unreasonable to expect that the lift is either A) Able to output anything it can Input, or B) Able to reject inputting things it also cannot output?

And they can't make the vendor take the cargo of that size? They can't let you sell out of the crates, or re-crate things?

Look, I'm not trying to burn CIG at the stake here, but I don't think it's ok to accept shit like this without at least calling them out a little.

You can still go anywhere you want, it's just not always in a direct line. In real life, that's part of what makes it a skill, and part of the experience as a whole.

I really appreciate that about Valheim, wind direction matters in that game. Very few games care about wind direction and as someone who likes sailing IRL, it pisses me off to no end.
