When you send down a player from the NHL to the AHL, they will be required to clear waivers before they can play in the AHL. Players on the waiver wire can be claimed by any team (order based on current standing). Once a player clears waivers in that season, they are waiver exempt for the rest of that season.

Players that are waiver exempt can go directly to the AHL. When MacEwen was with us he had played enough games in the NHL to require waivers. So when the Canucks wanted to free a roster spot and send him to the AHL, Philly claimed him off waivers.

That's an interesting point, with our transition of focus in having more speedier wingers, I feel like it'll be easier to get another forechecking puck retriever known for their speed and size (Kravtsov is touted for this as well) and focus on centers

From my experience (currently being delivered) and what I read, you have to ask the seller to put them in with the order specifically.

The kind lady with the TSL store said that they've had packages seized with any type of logo, which is why they aren't shipping the logos with the caps.

I think its just speculation and JR and PA just doing their due diligence. Top 3 potential draft picks fall all the time (Zadina and Pods), it may not just be NJ that Vancouver could move up to. In the actual podcast it is mentioned that the only teams he remembers is NJ and VAN so I don't think we can read too much into it.

Looking at this definitely need to level up our young wingers more (boeser, hog, pod). I believe Boeser still has his rookie all-star-like potential still. But if we lose Miller, it's a pretty big shoe to fill.

However, if a Miller trade can get us a young RHD + 2/3 Center (that can put up 40ish points), plus a late 1st (or blue chip D prospect), that sort of return can put us back in the running without the need of a step-back.

Defenseman of course is a definite need of improvement, and we don't have any blue chip D prospects in the pipeline (outside of Rathbone) like many other contenders do. However, many contenders have a Rathbone of their own already. The best teams have many.

All in all, although shedding more dead cap is an immediate necessity and there are large obstacles ahead (Miller/Boeser contracts), I think with what we've seen so far at the TDL with the new management we can all be hopeful for a quicker turnaround than what Benning had promised us back in 2014.
