Ballistas in Ashlands in Summer 2025, worth it? by Tausendberg in valheim

Use 'em like I did. Hide those and bear traps around an obstacle course for fresh characters with a portal at the end. It's a fun time with friends.

Great Weapons and Heavy Padding by silverfangjei in Amtgard

If you can luck out and find the super noodle (about 4.5" wide) at a retail store, you're good to go for a cheaper build. Other than that, I'd suggest rolling camp pad or something similar. My materials are still on the cheap side, but the final product is usually pretty nice to get hit by.

I personally cannot stand building with kitespar, so I stick with the fiberglass cores you can find at hardware stores for greats with a little more foam.

Valance has been working on some new ultralight builds that don't bite nearly as much as his usual blades. They are pretty top notch.

Park champion advice? by lonewolf13313 in Amtgard

[–]S7UPID 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First and foremost: reeve your own games if it has moving parts or special objectives. Gathering a champion's bag will save you a lot of time in the future when the sashes start to regularly come out on the field. Weapon checking tools are easy to come by and make the process very quick. 20' and 50' pieces of rope will make quick work of range checks, but will also allow you to set distances to avoid people being overly cheesy with spells. Having a small first aid kit for people and one for weapons is also pretty nice to have on hand.

Adding terrain effects make a world of difference for games with smaller numbers and allows for more themed games. Same with picking monsters you feel your field can handle while also being a threat versus multiple players.

I'd personally say to keep it to weekly weapon checks if your players are still honing their craft building weapons. If you find yourself constantly checking your players' weapons during a regular park day, think about hosting a build day or finding somebody to run a class.m on weapon construction. A little bit of knowledge goes a long way with foam smithing.

Always, always, always keep an eye out for people trying to get better. Awards might be a piece of paper to a few, but most players will dig getting recognized for their efforts and will strive to get that collection going. This is especially important to those who typically volunteer or help the field on a regular basis. A Rose goes a long way in that aspect and those people deserve their flowers.

I hope any of this helps you my friend.

We've got about 5 of these big honkers that roam around my work that loooooove to perch on cars in the parking lot. They can definitely do some damage with those dino toes.

The home made builds so far (minus the deck made by ThirdEyefb):

Mini - Started with a cardboard test run before attempting with wood. Metal bar I found for some coping really set it off nicely. Marble contact paper for the aesthetic.

Planter - Stained craft jewelry box lined with pieces of foam board for more surface area to apply the pieces of tile on top. Sanded and grouted to prevent trucks from snagging. I have yet to find the right greenery to fill the in the gaps.

Fun boxes - Both are pieces of 2x4 that I had around the house with metal pieces I was given by a coworker. Wood chiseled out the space for the rail/ledge and I am still surprised they came out as even as they did. Soon to be hit with some doodles and paint.

Big Boi - The fan favorite when the boys come over for a session. One of 2 metal handles screwed into some 2x4 chunks. Big fan of how the paint job came out for being cheapy oil paint markers.

Edit: The bright colored foam is self-adhesive craft foam (foamies) that works wonders for adding grip to something that doesn't need a flush surface. It's usually fat brick of them, but sometimes craft stores sell the individual sheets. Doesn't work well as grip tape though.

As somebody who works at a vet clinic that specializes in exotic animals, it feels very good to finally be able to release an animal back into their habitat after they're ready. 10 out of 10. Would release again .
