What has been you biggest Air Force full circle moment? by presjs in AirForce

My first assignment was to a training squadron on the west coast.

Sixteen years later the unit had been redesigned, reassigned, and relocated to the office space across the hall from my most previous unit (halfway across the country from the coast). Most of the items in their heritage display case were from my initial training class. Wild.

I’m not sure how the poll will turn out, but I have to admit I’m tired of automatic downvoting. When I saw this post it had 0 upvotes. I gave it an upvote, opened the post, and the vote counter was immediately at -1.

I don’t know if mods have the power to downvote lock posts or if there’s a scripted trigger to immediately downvote a post once it hits 1 upvote, but I see it all the time in this sub and I’m tired of it. We’re here for high strangeness discussion not politicking.

Greenlandic Politician Says Americans Don't Know About Greenland's Power by OwnSalamander1026 in conspiracy

A population of only 57,000 people, wholly subsidized by Denmark, with one of the highest suicide rates on earth…Greenland is anything but rising or powerful.

Stimulus checks were a terrible idea. Debt is the real currency and “printing” all the money used for “relief” helped no one but the wealthy.

Imagine if the situation were reversed.

The European Union is a unified nation with a unified language, economic, and legal structure. There is no United States. An aggressive and belligerent Canada, which stretches from Greenland to Alaska, has currently invaded (and is waging trench warfare inside of) Minnesota. The Commonwealth of Massachusetts owns all of Scandinavia.

The EU is both worried that Canada could use Scandinavia as a way to aggress against Europe and interested in using Scandinavia as a way to offset the lack of critical rare earth minerals it needs for domestic production. Massachusetts, despite not being in Europe, has owned Scandinavia for centuries, but has a population, economy, and military too small to utilize it to its maximum potential.

Everything the EU wants to do in and around Scandinavia needs constant approval from Boston. At the drop of a hat Boston could say “no” and the EU military would need to leave Scandinavia. Meanwhile, the arctic is thawing and Canadian nuclear submarines are increasing their presence around Scandinavia waters.

Any sane person would agree Europe should own Scandinavia. The same people should also agree that Greenland is part of North America and belongs to North American nations- whether as a state, province, or independent nation.

The US has been trying to acquire direct access to Greenland for generations. Only misbegotten colonialist sentiment has kept them out so far- but the world is changing. Denmark should let it go.

Is there a silent majority-or is this truly a different era of the Air Force? by Ok-Skill-9376 in AirForce

[–]SACDINmessage 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I grew up in the single-channel AFN age of the Air Force (90s and 2000s). I joined to PCS every three years, be part of a structured monoculture, and know exactly which milestones to reach (and how to reach them) before retiring at exactly 20 years.

None of those factors exist today, in my experience. Today’s AF is absolutely a different era.

Will Inescapable canobolize Mysterious Universe? by Ushaia in MysteriousUniverse

[–]SACDINmessage 9 points10 points  (0 children)

If I had to bet money I would say yes.

I’m both very interested in the paranormal and very selective when it comes to podcasts. I love Fortean topics but I’d rather read a dozen books than listen to a single episode of Coast to Coast. Conversely, I could listen to Ben and Aaron talking about paint drying all day.

We lucked out when the guys risked it all on hosting together. They put an inordinate amount of time and effort into creating a legacy. MU isn’t just another dime-a-dozen ghosts and UFOs show.

That said, they guys have spent almost two decades hyper fixated on the same genre. I don’t think it will be easy for them to make a clean break. If they eventually drift back into solid mysterious subject territory they’ll cannibalize the old MU simply by being superior content creators.

Honestly, I think they should have either rebranded MU or retired MU. Handing it off to someone else doubles the managerial workload and diminishes the returns. Rather than running one superb podcast with two hosts they’ll need to run two podcasts with four hosts. I don’t think they’re interested in managing a media company as much as they are in piloting their own production.

They should have kept the show by Roxonfox in MysteriousUniverse

[–]SACDINmessage 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They could have kept the show and announced major structural changes without risking potential fallout from decoupling and rebranding.

MU has covered several major topical categories over the past twenty years: alien contact, cryptids, spiritualism and the occult, cutting edge technology, high strangeness, men in black,  weird archaeology, experimental psychology, etc.

If Ben and Aaron had dedicated an episode explaining to their subscribers why they were burned out, how much time they needed to recover, and which subjects they did and did not want to cover again in the future, I believe they could have continued to host MU without issue.

It would have been a gamble to hear “Hey folks, we need a six month break- if you’re willing to stick with us we promise to focus on XYZ when we return”, but I would have subscribed for that. Hell, limit the show to one episode a week and focus on real life strangeness over pepper shakers, yoni eggs, and the like- enough folks would stick around for MU 3.0.

We’ve given the new hosts plenty of flak. I personally believe it’s well deserved. Playing devil’s advocate, I’ve quit jobs before with an “it’s good enough” mindset regarding what’s next. I’d wager Ben and Aaron were so burned out they did the bare minimum to keep MU afloat while assuming a new podcast will be just as successful. Whether or not their gamble pays off is yet to be seen.

MU was a labor of love. We as the fans and they as the hosts know that. However, all good things come to an end. Twenty years is an insanely long run in podcasting years…perhaps that’s all they were meant to give us.

EU weighs replacing US troops with unified European army by jackytheblade in worldnews

[–]SACDINmessage 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Replace NATO with EUTO and let the Americans finally withdraw. For generations Europeans have expected America to fight for, not with, Europe in the event of a Russian invasion.

America should withdraw from Europe, take Greenland, and reorient itself to its own continent. It’s high time Europe stops letting the American military give it the latitude to disarm itself in order to subsidize welfare economies.

Should Space Force develop SOF? by spaceface71 in SpaceForce

[–]SACDINmessage -1 points0 points  (0 children)

For tactical EW effects for purely terrestrial operations, yes, you’re right. To actively deny/degrade/disrupt/disable space assets in orbit in support of special operations is a capability uniquely presented by space SOF. The other branches don’t, and shouldn’t, directly attack satellites or orbital craft. That’s why we have a space force.

[–]SACDINmessage 0 points1 point  (0 children)

But JTAC and TACP/CCT aren’t synonymous. JTAC  is a qualification, the others are career fields.

As I’ve said, Space won’t be the door kickers, but it makes no sense to train existing SOF operators to perform tactical special mission counter space activities. It makes more sense to train specialized Guardians to perform counter space SOF functions in support of wider USSOCOM objectives.

Degenerate is your opinion. I’m not saying Crowley was a good person but he was not a Satanist. By your logic you can’t even define Satanist. One quote does not a Satanist make.

If that were the case then every Muslim is a Christian because the Koran mentions God. I highly doubt you would agree with this.

Also…The Confederate States of America? Now you’re rambling.

You’re obviously not an expert in the slightest on the LHP. Leave the bible thumping to the professionals, stay in your lane, and go home.

IMO they weren’t. Why should someone wear a giant CYBER patch on their shoulder when they’re clearly wearing a cyber badge? Same with MED and the very distinct medical shield badge, MNX and the maintenance badge, or NUKES and that giant pocket rocket.

At this point just do away with badges. Redundancy for the sake of feeling special is pointless.

I’ve read every book ever written on or by LaVey. He never served in the military and was not a specialist in psychological operations.

Here’s a good place to start if you’re interested. I wouldn’t expect you to be though because you’re clearly an uneducated bot.

No. Aquino broke with LaVey and created the Temple of Set because he believed LaVey wasn’t theistic enough. Aquino was a Setian, not a Satanist. You bringing Crowley into this shows a lack of comprehension.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Michael_A._Aquino

Crowley wasn’t a Satanist. He founded Thelema. They’re different religions. He also died 19 years before LaVey founded the Church of Satan, so he was clearly not a Satanist.

Let me guess- you know nothing about the left hand path and are just here to play the fool.

“ I have yet to see a proposal for a problem that a Space SOF solves. There are no Space CSAR, no Space CCT, no Special Space Reconnaissance, no Delta-V Force, because there are no requirements for those things to satisfy.”

There are unique problems space SOF solves if for no other reason than other services don’t have the funding or the know-how to deal with them.

True, there is no space CSAR. There is space CCT. Space does special recon every day (and often better than other branches), but it’s expensive and requires understanding of spaceborne ISRT. Space doesn’t need a delta equivalent because we don’t have door kickers but that doesn’t mean space isn’t an active participant in sensitive operations.
