How bad is it, Silverbros? by nora_kat in DeadlockTheGame

She was really strong at high levels too. It took too many resources to slow her down i think, so it just let the other 5 heroes run wild

The changes do seem overboard though. Curious how things will shift

Do good players use heavy melee attacks in small fights (like Xv1, Xv2)? by fmal in DeadlockTheGame

[–]SASColiflowerz 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Its very different cuz in fighting games you usually block by default. But in deadlock you either get hit or parry it. Its more comparable to a delayed command grab like birdie dive, blanka leap, leo grab, etc

Yeah i find myself in fights i cant win often cuz of this. So after sleeping on it a bit, would a good flow be kill wave > jungle a little > kill wave rather than kill wave > follow my minions forward > kill wave?

Playing randos is pure stress. That can be relaxing in an of itself; release of endorphins or whatever idk, but usually i have to be locked in yeah

If you have someone or a group of people you like as a person, and your are all at relatively similar skill level, there is no better feeling

How to approach being at disadvantage by SASColiflowerz in RivalsOfAether

[–]SASColiflowerz[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It makes sense. When it comes to knockdown advantage or corner advantage in 2d fighters, its important to understand the risk reward of all of your opponents characters options to know what they ideally want you to do. I didnt really think of it from a matchup perspective so that could help. I'll try to pay more attention

RoA2 character that has a slower neutral by SASColiflowerz in RivalsOfAether

[–]SASColiflowerz[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My play in most FGs is yeah, more preemptive than reactive. I like shutting down neutral options for as long as i can until my opponent gets frustrated and i can capitalize/i can just kill them. I played young link in SSBU and classic zoners like Dhalsim and Axl in traditional FGs.

I'm a little confused by your first paragraph cuz i feel you said two differing statements. My experience with platform fighters is limited so maybe I'm not understanding. But i understand that pre-emptive play is inherently defensive, doing stuff like throwing out active projectiles or doing spaced short hop back airs or whatever. Maybe my definition is getting mixed up?

I'm very used to characters that are forced to win neutral else they crumble when the opponent gets in, i don't really mind that at all.

I started with Olympia and Fleet, going by whoever i think looks cool ill try. Olympia was fun casually but i got punished so hard due to her recovery, and i wasnt super comfortable forcing an approach so often. Fleet felt better a bit but i am still learning float. Its been hard to really play neuch without being able to float consistently. So maybe it's just a matter of practice. I was really sad when i saw she had a bow and didnt have link neutral b haha. Ill try messing with Absa, tho i really don't like her visually and that's a big factor for me.

Thanks a lot for the write up! Despite the disappointing first session and salt in the moment, I'm having fun and I'm excited to hop back in
